The latest update causes the browser and even the entire PC to freeze due to very high CPU usage.

I've been using Dark Reader for years, but now it slows down and even hangs my browser. When I use Firefox Settings to set backgrounds to black, I lose highlighting effects. Absence of a working dark mode could cause me to abandon Firefox. :-(

One of the best extensions I've installed. Simple, effective, and doesn't bloat the browser at all.

Efficiently renders webpages as dark by altering elements directly (by default). Very effective at eliminating bright backgrounds no matter the source. Interface is a bit clunky with four subpages to sift through, and verbiage a bit confusing. Can rarely unintentionally hide elements from sight, so double-check a page with it disabled in case anything is missing.

The best dark mode add-on there is and nothing else comes close, visually it's brilliant! it dynamically and intelligently changes any page to look great depending on the different sites. I haven't seen one site that looks bad with it. The only problem is the performance hit on certain sites where it causes some slow downs, But it's so good that I don't really mind it that much.

It's mostly really good but on the occasional site, like Aliexpress, I need to disable it and then enable it for it to display the page correctly. I don't understand it as it is still using the same filter when I cycle it but for some reason it has to be done to a few sites to display properly. Other than that this is a must have as while backgrounds are eyeball destroyers.

This extension hijacks searches to include their referral tag to steal rep and/or money for themselves. When directly going to www.google.com and running a manual search in the search bar, this addon hijacks the search to include its referral tag, making Google think this app initiated the search. This is similar to how Honey steals money via referral codes. Go to Google, run a search, then disable the addon and do the same thing. Compare the URL bar.

Recently slowing down all pages on mozilla firefox and several other pages. If developers can fix this, this is the best extension. Please fix this "slowing down firefox" problem.

dark reader recently started really slowing down web pages like reddit. a shame because the contrast toggle is really useful

Nifty extension that does what it says and used to be really useful, it helps reduce eyestrain by giving me a dark mode on websites that don't have it. I used to leave it on all the time. But lately (past 2 months or so) it's been slowing down firefox and I have to disable it for the page to load properly. Really hope the issue gets fixed soon - if yes, 5 stars!
