i have finally completed my quest for no eye strain using google docs (docs.google.dom/document), but doesnt work on slides (docs.google.com/presentation). for v2.0.5, could you add google slides support?

Needs an update for the context menus, Feb 26, 2026. Otherwise 5 stars.

Have been using this extension for years with no problems whatsoever and love it, but it needs an update. Dark mode now whites out all drop-down menus (format/file/tools/etc) and renders them unreadable.

Currently broken 2026, Feb 25, layout and some texts in the menus are washed out and empty.

Amazing and works well except that all popup menus and drop downs become white washed and illegible.

Half the time it makes text invisible...

the extension is good, however it has started to make the page super laggy recently

I've been really enjoying this extension, but this newest update has made documents extremely laggy. I would like to keep using it because it really hurts my eyes, but it just isn't reasonable to do so. I will keep trying to use it and I will update my review if it is fixed.

This is everything I'm looking for but sadly this is causing some lag on longer documents.

The color schemes are very good, but it is terribly laggy beyond the point of practicality. I suspect this happened in an update?

the extention works great, but its annoying that to have text be in color any grayscale text doesn't switch to contrast background.

This add on was good for a while, but this latest update must've messed something up because the dark mode no longer covers the full page. The top border of the text page and anywhere that hasn't been filled in by text are the default white of Docs. Please look into this and try to fix it ASAP, as this is really distracting and defeats the purpose of relieving eyestrain.

In general this add-on's been great, but I don't really care for this new update. I'm not sure what went on, but for some reason the page stays a white even when everything else, including the text, is in dark mode format. I've found that switching to the page-less format gets rid of this issue, but judging by the other reviews it doesn't seem like a lot of people know about this.

seems broken on firefox currently (September 2024), for my manuscript at least.

Comments on the sidebar are unreadable inverted mode. (white on black)

its pretty good but can mess up docs sometimes
also, darker better docs does the same but also includes the home screen

doesn't support google sheets, which is part of google docs. tbh this could just be a userscript

I would love this but for some reason "Custom" doesn't just turn off the google page colour, it ends up making your custom colour one page, and the next page will be the background colour, and so on.

This would be a perfect extension if you never have to change the page colour to differentiate projects etc. I prefer a beige background for our main project, and grey shade for another, and a really dull robbinshell for my third project.

Only works on Google Docs "documents". While one would assume a dark mode extension for Google Docs would work for ALL services under the Google Docs umbrella, or at the very least Google Docs spreadsheets, it only works strictly with its namesake, which to me would be like adding a dark mode for YouTube videos, but thrusting the user back into light mode as soon as they view a YouTube livestream vod. Its description isn't incorrect, but it is just a bit misleading when I can still be on "docs.google.com" and not have a dark theme.

Doesn't even affect the colors on the main screen (where it lists your documents for you to choose which one to view), making it really jarring to switch between light and dark repeatedly.

I'm also surprised it doesn't have the ability to invert black text (to make it white) without also inverting all other colors. Works fine for grayscale colors, but when it also HAS to turn red text cyan, it makes it hard to view documents formatted by/for people who don't use this extension. The only fix for this is to turn ALL text grayscale, which might be fine for people who don't mess around with formatting very much, but not for me.

All in all, technically does what it advertises decently enough, but is lacking in features. I suppose I'll keep it installed just to darken the bar at the top if I can't find a better solution.

It's not bad, but it ONLY changes the document editing page itself. The rest of Google Workspace is unaffected, including the page where you load up different Docs. Not what I was looking for.
