mis en ligne : il y a un anFirefox ACCOUNTS only store so much history, the main reason why I created this extension. If you mean that not the entire history is imported properly it's either just slow at updating or there's somehow a bug still. As far as I know it should just import everything. It did last time I used it.
Edit: Sigh, looks like there's an issue still with importing a large amount. I can't import my own history (filesize ~110mb) anymore without the browser locking up. I'll have to have a look at this some day. The JSON isn't that intricate, it shouldn't be hard to manually cut it up into smaller chunks for now.
Edit 2: Adding a very noticeable delay in importing (my own importing takes ~9 minutes with this test) I'm importing everything fine. I was getting complete freezes and even an out of memory hard crash with the available version, so I guess that's an improvement but I'm not happy with it being so slow. It would also be hardware dependent what delay would be appropriate and I'm not really willing to figure out a general way to set a hardware specific delay.

Allowed me to get back my entire history after an unfortunate accident.
It would be nice if it worked on mobile too.Réponse du développeur
mis en ligne : il y a 2 moisI'll get it working on mobile as soon as firefox adds the history api to the mobile versions!

- Noté 5 sur 5par PaulS, il y a 5 moisSimple addon which allows to migrate all history from a device to another, because Firefox Sync saves only 1 month (30 days). If you’re history is large, please note the addon says it has finished whereas it still needs a while to export everything: be patient. 😊

- Noté 3 sur 5par adon amon, il y a 7 moisI exported my Firefox history from one computer using one operating system, then tried Importing the history file on another computer in another operating system and nothing happens after selecting the file. It only weighs about 27MB, so I don't think it's chugging behind the scenes.

- Noté 5 sur 5par vyrnius, il y a un anworked like a charm, thank you so much! was able to export my current history, replace places.sqlite with a way older version and reimport my current history. THANK YOU!
- Noté 3 sur 5par Newguy, il y a un anI have a profile from a previous browser and have uploaded that places.sqlite file into your extension. It appears in my downloads folder as data.json. My history has not appeared in my browser. I closed/reopened firefox. Refreshed firefox. Still nothing. Can you provide further instructions on how to load this json file into the new browser?
- Noté 5 sur 5par Nick R, il y a un anWhen I reset the password for my Firefox account, I did not realize I would lose all my history. Luckily, I was still logged in elsewhere and could pull an export so I didn't have to start from scratch. This extension worked amazingly.
One issue, though. I exported all of the history but it's not loading everything into my Firefox account. It says successful but I'm missing a couple of the older months and the "Longer than 6 months" section. Not a huge deal but is there a way to rectify this? Do I need to edit the JSON and feed two files versus one?
Thanks for your help ^^Réponse du développeur

Really is a day savior.
- Noté 4 sur 5par Utilisateur ou utilisatrice 18861750 de Firefox, il y a 2 ansThis is great! Any chance you can enable it for Firefox for Android? It seems like in theory it should work there!

mis en ligne : il y a un anYou would think so but the history API is not available on firefox android. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1330161 - Noté 5 sur 5par momossim, il y a 2 ansgreat extension for exporting your history, i just don't understand how to import it, what do i do after it says finished ?
Réponse du développeur
mis en ligne : il y a 2 ansThe browse button is for selecting and immediately importing an exported file. When it has parsed all history entries and imported them it will say finished. Depending on how much was in the export it might take the browser a few minutes to fully index all the additions. - Noté 5 sur 5par mbuble, il y a 2 ans

- Noté 5 sur 5par 𝖘𝖈͈̺𝖆𝖗, il y a 2 ansThank you so much! This is exactly what I needed to recover from a corrupted places.sqlite that my new profile was only finding 12 history entries but old profile still showed them all. Your History Export was able to grab nearly 139,000 records and import them into my new profile in under a minute. Then it took Firefox about an hour to parse it all and add it to my Library. Verified the integrity in about:support afterwards, all is good!!

- Noté 5 sur 5par piecevcake, il y a 2 ansVery handy thank you. Could you please make the title in the last column of the export, or use a less common delimiter? Will make import to excel easier, as titles can contain commas.
- Noté 5 sur 5par luca, il y a 3 ansNice add-on. I tried to export histories and it works well. But I didn't import with generated data.json file for one question: **will my current histories be overwritten when importing?** I want to merge my current histories with histories in data.json. Hope for your reply.

Thank for the description added,
and your (very fast) reply.
And i understand you don't investigate more for Waterfox Classic.
Maybe you can add in the description that the export button work too if we don't select a file:
In this case it export the history of the browser profile where the addon is installed.
And if we select an other file, it do the export from it...
I tested to use the Normal Export from the History widows of Waterfox Classic(a .json file),
and import it to Quantum:
Same results..
But it import too my Bookmarks folder (which i don't need).
Your extension import just the history, which i wanted.
But stay the visited links problem:
Maybe a cookies thing ?
Old Review:
Thank for this tool!
Not for all day use, but a time saver when we need it, for sure.
I tested to move my History from Waterfox Classic to Firefox Quantum.
Before, for the test, i deleted all the history of my Firefox Quantum.
A - Into the Option panel of your extension
- Select the "formhistory.sqlite" from my Waterfox Classic profile.
- Do an export (Obtain an "data.json" in my Download folder).
B - Open My FireFox Quantum.
- Select the previous "data.json",
- Click to the import button.
After a quick time, seems working fine!
Small problem:
I notice if the pages from my Waterfox are in the new history,
inside them, their links visited are not highlighting, like i expected.
For info, I keep my Browsing History and have a CSS for that.
My Request /questions:
1 - It's normal or i need to do something more?
2 - Maybe there are an incompatibility between Waterfox Classic and Quantum?
Another request:
For info too:
The Export seems not work with your extension installed in Waterfox Classic,
But for Waterfox to Quantum, all can be done in Quantum...Réponse du développeur
mis en ligne : il y a 3 ansVisited links should be working, I don't notice anything wrong with that per se. It might be that the browser is just busy managing all the new history in the background, maybe even awaiting a restart.
I won't be spending time to work out if it does or does not work in waterfox classic. It's more than likely the addon is using features just not available in that browser.
I added a description, I shouldn't have been lazy to begin with :)
If you have any notes on the description let me know and I could change it.
Thanks for the review! - Noté 5 sur 5par David, il y a 3 ans
