Premium features are there to cover cost of handling servers for 20 million people - Hmm... I'm not sure about the recent permission changes, but I will choose to believe your words that it's because of Mozilla's new requirements. Leaving a 5 star to combat the review bombing.
That being said, it would be a good idea to make the reasons for the change more public and widespread. It is very easy to misunderstand your intentions.
EDIT: Upon deeper research, it seems the fault mainly lies in Modzilla and their abrupt new changes. I'm sorry this upsetting situation has happened to you.תגובת המפתח
מועד פרסום: לפני שעהIt's not even "fault", it's just a bit of unfortunate choice of words. They don't tell people that I only access YouTube, and on YouTube - I only use a randomly generated UserId - to track votes.

The permission is far too broad for me to ever accept it.

I haven't seen a single AD since like 2010 when browsing these sites and I haven't installed a spam extension on my browser since the 90s, I'm not going to get popups over a like/dislike button.
Stop spamming and remove premium garbage from UI by default for people who don't want it (that is, before the option is toggled). Don't add premium advertising popups to ruin AD-free experience of users who don't browse web on garbage mobile phones (and thus are used to such nonsense).
I installed this extension for fun, it doesn't add anything to my experience and is not crucial enough for me to get spammed by ADS by one extension out of all others I use.תגובת המפתח

You can close the panel with one click on the x in the top right corner. It also shows raw dislike counts to free users, which was a requested feature.

That's fair - it's up to you whether the extension is useful enough for you to keep using or support.
Being free to use doesn't make it free to run. I still have server costs to cover, and the paid features help cover those costs. Existence of a new premium feature doesn't affect you in any way - you can still use it for free as you did before - and somebody else will pay to cover your costs. That is pretty much what it is. It's a one time changelog on update install. But I wanted to give something back for donations.
Closing that changelog (that only appears on browser restart, so the least intrusive time I hoped - as all extension changelogs do) is just one click

This extension likely has the largest database and traffic load of all extensions in the store. I.e. the highest costs to run

They all use my API. So if this extension dies - they all die too. This was one update message over 5 years of existence of the extension. Due to costs starting to exceed donations.
Unfortunatelly hosting ~12TB database with a load of ~20 million unique daily users costs some money. Donations died down and the extension would run out of money to function.

The developer is replying aggressively to people unhappy about it - "Sorry the message about new features bothered you.", "Handling YouTube-scale traffic and storing dozens of terabytes of like/dislike data on a school-lunch budget ain’t that easy". Nobody is forcing you to do this. Maybe you should get a job at Google if you want to sell people's data for money.
