Importing passwords from my default password manager into bitwarden was a nightmare. After it was activated, the login details on sites like google were not filling in, making this add-on absolutely unusable in both chrome and firefox.

It's a potentially good service with seemingly all the features you'd want in a service like this but they don't always work or are all even present. I find a lot of the time it either won't suggest to unlock the extension when clicking on a login or password field and even the fill in keyboard shortcuts don't work - its been too intermittent to tell if it is only some sites or just a randomly triggered bug. Also very annoying, when I click to fill in a login and password it'll prompt Windows Hello Fingerprint randomly in the background so I have to click on it on the taskbar instead of it showing up in the foreground all the time as it obviously should. I also bought it for the premium features while the Firefox extension doesn't even have the advertised anti-phishing feature yet which is one of the reasons I paid for premium. So, they are advertising features that aren't even available which I think is dishonest which doesn't inspire trust in the company and their practices - it is strange that the supposedly most secure browser seems to be the least supported.

The above poses instant issues when considering the service for tech illiterate people as these problems are deal breakers. I want to set this up for my boomer mother who has been successfully phished several times but the fingerprint in the background bug will definitely make her think it's not there and therefore not working. Also, the non-existent anti-phishing feature advertised for the premium edition literally takes away the reason I would consider paying for a premium account for her.

These are all, however, grievances that could be easily fixed with competent non LLM vibe coding done by a real human being which could easily bump my rating up a star or two and pay for premium for my boomer mother but for now Bitwardem is mediocre at best and I can't recommend paying for premium to anyone and even the free version's bugs may pose problems depending on your tech literacy.

Bitwarden devs: you're close but you have to fix these things before I can recommend the service.

Firefox is covering the Bitwarden suggestions, terrible UX.

The Bitwarden extension in Firefox version 115.33.0esr (64-bit) on Windows 7 64-bit installs but doesn't work. When clicking the "Bitwarden" icon on the extensions panel, the popup window appears and the loading circles spin indefinitely. The Bitwarden website logs in and works normally, but the extension does not work. For Google Chrome browser, the Bitwarden extension works correctly. Please fix the bug in Firefox. How to reproduce the problem? Uninstall the Bitwarden extension from Firefox — restart the browser — reinstall the Bitwarden extension — and it does not work.

Broken on Android tablet.Cannot see full screen for UI in order to use it. Autofill is useless. For years just creates new pass.

The last 2 updates (late 2025, early 2026) have broken a lot of basic functionality, and have made this app UNDEPENDABLE and SLOW to login. No longer works correctly on many sites that it did before the last "updates." Please stop making your app far worse with disastrous "updates." Roll back to at least 2 versions ago, and find out what you screwed up, PLEASE.

Causes page lag and Passkeys outright haven't worked for a month now. The extension has clearly degraded in quality SEVERELY in the past year.

recent updates have broken the extension on firefox, console on websites shows 'Error: Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist.' (void chrome.runtime.sendMessage({ command: "triggerAutofillScriptInjection" });)

additionally, it always asks me to "update" my passwords after signing into any website (multiple times), even though they are up-to-date.
Clearly the firefox extension is an afterthought and bugs aren't adressed, since this has been an ongoing issue, in addition to negatively affecting browser performance during typing in input fields, likely caused by the bugs mentioned.

Passkey support in Firefox is broken, which locked me out of my accounts. This is a known bug that does not seem to trigger much response or an emergency update, which does not inspire great confidence :(

I noticed the browser was starting to slow down significantly. Through a process of elimination, I concluded it was due to this add-on. Rolling back to version 2025.6.1 solved the problem.

Good concept, really stupidly, incompetently, and defectively executed much of the time. For instance, Firefox plug in does not seem to be auto syncing.

Kind of works sometimes. The extension for Firefox on Mac skips identity fields and sometimes doesn't respond at all. It's a good thing it's free, although it's still getting uninstalled. This was a really frustrating exercise in futility.

Provides valuable and important service to me and I used to like this a lot.
For long time now extensions behavior has gotten worse and worse.
Popups with password suggestion and save suggestions popup every where to the point that I have had disable almost everything from this extension.

So I no longer cannot get suggestion to fill my credentials for login forms because random popups break so many other sites, some of don't even have login prompts.

I love this add-on and have used it for over a year now on several devices, it always worked perfectly. Now, suddenly, I can log in, but after, the little window stays completely empty, the short-cuts to fill in forms and passwords doesn't work anymore and I can't find a way to fix it. I haven't changed anything in my settings or security, so it must be a bug with the add-on. As soon as that's fixed, I'll gladly give this five stars again!

Buggy. After recent update on Mac it no longer shows badge number, it doesn't offer to save newly detected passwords too.

Bitwarden ist wirklich großartig, aber das Firefox-Addon auf dem Desktop ist mir zu aufdringlich. Es nistet sich in jedes Textfeld ein, ist dort häufig im Weg und solange der Tresor nicht entsperrt ist, gibt es keinerlei Einstellungsmöglichkeiten. Ich möchte meinen Tresor beim regulären Surfen nicht permanent entsperren müssen, nur damit es mich etwas weniger stört.

UPDATE: Auto fill and field fill drop-down options don't work in the latest version. Downgrading to 2025.8.1 restored the functionality.

UPDATE 2026: Still using 2025.8.1 because that's the last functioning auto-fill for me.

I find it mind-boggling that the chromium version is at v2025.7.0, while the one on gecko is still at v2025.2.0, which is still dated March 21, 2025... why don't you update it? It's a great extension but I find that the version gap is just huge... the version on the add-ons is listed as v2025.6.1, but I can't update it on my browser I'm stuck on v2025.2.0
