This approach isn't ideal, but it avoids detection and is also fairly robust against changes from Spotify, which is why this extension still works after >3y without an update. Spotify detects ads are still being played, so your account is not in danger. Hopefully Spotify doesn't have the ability to detect sound at tab level.
