    Absolutely perfect. Not sure when exactly Firefox removed this functionality by default but missed it an absolute tonne and this adds it back without any issue :)

    This doesn't seem to work on all webpages anymore. Any chance of a fix for that?
    Or maybe it randomly stops working...

    Unfortunately, it's the websites who prevented execution of the function, backspace enabler is using Firefox built in engine and cannot possibly do evil. Some web developers due to the lack of knowledge just choose to block whatever they do not understand.

    it works great. the fact that firefox doesn't include such an option is dumb, but thanks.

    Well, there was a big discussion to that, and the main reason Firefox developers decided not to have this option was because "other browsers removed that functionality as unnecessary already". That's how I see it.

    EDIT! It started working all on its own, no idea what the issue was but now it's perfect. 5 stars, thanks!

    (I saw lots of recent reviews saying it works and I didn't want to mess up the rating so that's why I did four stars)
    I've installed the extension and even restarted Firefox and I can't get it to work. I do have previous pages that I can return to by pressing the usual back button. Any thoughts on how to get it working? I've just migrated from Chrome to Firefox and am trying to find a substitute for the extension I had there.

    Backspace Enabler has event listener to monitor click on backspace key. Occasionally on the first run due to browser configuration it doesn't run after installation immediately (computer restart should do the activation). Once it's active, it sets configuration properly for all future use.

    Would it be much trouble add a "Shift+Backspace" function for navigating forwards Mikko?

    It's different code, not simple addition. Why won't you use default Firefox shortcuts? "Command+Right Arrow", that sends active browser window page forward.

    just installed, tried backspace on a site with no text boxes and previous pages...did not work so i'm removing...went to a different page and it suddenly worked re-rated 5 stars!

    I installed it and immediately was able to use the backspace key to go back a page. Works great!
