Instapaper is fantastic. This extension is okay, it works. I would give it 5/5 if weren't for the annoying keyboard shortcut issue. Ctrl+Shift+I is the shortcut for opening the browser inspector tool which you use when developing websites, but it's caught by Instapaper which attempts to save the page you're developing (?!) and there is no cancel button and no revert button, you have to go to instapaper.com- and delete it from the list there before continuing your work, then remember to disable this stupid shortcut and instead save articles with the mouse and context menu. Even disabling the shortcut doesn't solve the clash, the inspection tool still doesn't show up but instead of saving the article, simply "nothing happens" (?!) 🤦‍♀️Understanably the Instapaper site has a much higher priority for the company than this little extension, but I think until the developer has time/capacity to make the shortcut customiseable they should turn it off; as in delete/comment-out this shortcut functionality from the extension altogether. Or open source the extension and let one of the users give it a try.

Very good system! I like how I can press the save button, sync my Kobo, and there it is. Certainly a good extension.

Doesn't work - sends me to a new page saying "You shouldn't see this page under normal circumstances" no matter what I do. I've changed my cookies permissions and everything but still doesn't save my boookmark, even if i click the button on the page it's opened

It is not working as it should. I need to re-download "saved" articles with the android instapaper app. Only then can I open them in browser or download to Kobo reader. Without pull-down refresh in android app i have only kind of links or thumbnails saved via browser extension. Permissions required are also ridiculous. I was forced to use it by Kobo reader manufacturer (do not recommend either) and Mozilla (discontinuation of Pocket tool which had worked flawlessly). What a world! Perfect tool replaced by god-knows-what

The permissions required by this add-on are ridiculous. "Access your data for all websites"!? You only need the current tab URL! (permissions: ["tabs"]). I'm saving articles using the bookmarklet for now, but you say you're phasing them out. As long as the permissions here are so broad, I hope you never phase out the bookmarklet.

The Instapaper website is, let's say, nice and practical, although the only reason most of us are using it is because Pocket is closing down.

That said, it's extremely annoying that the Instapaper extension is inefficient in *ITS ONLY MISSION*: sending a link to the Instapaper website dashboard. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't; sometimes it displays the message “Saved,” other times it doesn't. It's an absurd game of Russian roulette that is making me consider saving everything to my bookmarks like we did twenty-five years ago.

While it's mostly good, it:

- breaks the ctrl+shift+i shortcut (open dev tools) quite frequently, even if you've disabled it in the addon's config. This is incredibly annoying, and you have to disable and re-enable the addon to fix it.
- randomly stops working on long-running webpages, eg your email client, eg the thing you're going to want to push lots of articles from.

2 stars may seem harsh, because when it works it works, but the entire goal is "send a URL to an API", so I think the bar could be set a little higher than "works occasionally"

Works for sites with (paid) paywall articles (most of these "read later" extensions do not), simple and efficient. Best!

Better then Pocket

After the August 2023 migration of Pocket to Mozilla, I cannot login to my Pocket app in mobile, no matter how hard I try and how many workaround I do. Moved to Instapaper all of my saves for more than a decade. Also, Mozilla don't reply to help requests, so don't bother. Just use Instapaper.

Easy to use, easy to set up files for saved articles.

It used to save articles instantly, but now it's taking 4-5 seconds of "Saving..." before it shows "Saved."
