And since it is developed independently of web-based advertising companies, it is by far the most effective at giving you control over who collects your data while you browse. It can work with or without intense intervention: you can let uBlock make your content decisions for you or you can decide exactly what connections your browser makes for every site you visit.
That said, this is a geek's paradise of a tool. Although it is possible to use it--and use it effectively--without hand-editing the cryptic rules lists, for the highest levels of privacy one has to at least understand the model it uses for deciding whether to block or unblock connections. But the English documentation is very clear, so if you are up for a short learning curve, uBlock can give you very fine-grained control over what you see and over what sees you.

- I used to think browser extensions were for techy people, but uBlock Origin on Firefox turned me into that friend who won’t stop raving about it. The moment I open a news article and see a clean, reader-friendly page instead of a carnival of flashing banners, I get this little burst of relief. It’s like someone finally turned off the noise and let me just read.
What surprises me most is how feather-light it feels—my aging laptop doesn’t heat up or lag, even with a dozen tabs open. I’ve also tamed those stubborn newsletter overlays and “before you go” pop-ups with a quick point-and-click zap, which felt oddly satisfying. Knowing I’m not being invisibly trailed around the web gives me genuine peace of mind. My mom and my sister both installed it after watching me use it, and now our family group chat has way fewer “Why is this site so broken?” meltdowns. Just did exactly that, deleted and Reinstalled extension, after making a backup. With none of my Settings and just the Default it is back to working again on Investing.com going to check CNN.
One of my All-time Favorite Apps! However, it notoriously has problems with CNN.com's Paywall and even More so with Investing.com like the stock Indexes or Futures Pages. I wrote the designer, and he helped me to get it working, for a Little while, then back to not working, at all. Investing.com just doesn't work at all. I may have corrupted the Settings or something idk. I have a feeling, I need to delete and Reinstall the App completely and it *May* work. Wish I could prevent it from happening, in the First Place, would be Nice.
