- Valutata 4 su 5di Utente Firefox 12851851, 4 mesi faThis is a great extension. AFAIK the best OCR browser extension. One star less, because of two things:
1. It says it's open-source software (GPL), but nowhere on their site (or prefs) there is a link to the source. I can open the XPI file in my Firefox folder, but it's a good behaviour in the open-source universe to link it somewhere.
2. No dark-mode support. Maybe this has to do with the fact that it hasn't been updated since 2021. With dark-mode I mean the icon on the toolbar (should be lighter for dark-mode) and of course the pop-up window.
That said, thanks for this add-on. - Valutata 4 su 5di Utente Firefox 13202285, un anno faSeems to work fine for other languages, but it doesn't support Thai :(

pubblicato il 5 anni faWe totally agree! Copyfish will get a new icon soon ;-)- Valutata 4 su 5di Utente Firefox 14562799, 6 anni faEasy to use & perfect, except in Firefox 66.05 the copy to clipboard button did not work. Clicking on the text from the OCR, then to select all, then copy to clipboard, it was perfect. No mistakes at all
- It works great BUT...

The extension can read the content of any web page you visit as well as data you enter into those web pages, such as usernames and passwords. - Valutata 4 su 5di Murphy's Puppet, 8 anni faI have tested this add-on using English, Japanese and Spanish text, and its yield has been surprisingly successful. Not perfect, but good enough.
I tried it on complex and difficult to read text (from blurry or pixelated photos) and the results, although not completely accurate, were sufficiently close, and in some cases 100% perfect after a few retries.
Copyfish cannot read vertical text at all (such as Chinese or Japanese) but horizontally formatted text is generally not a problem.
There are some quirks with it and the interface can be fiddly. A few times I found myself having to reload the whole page from the browser in order to make the add-on retry the OCR work since the buttons just stopped responding, but it was never more than a small time-consuming problem.
All-in-all this add-on may very well save you a lot of time typing from an image, specially if you don't have the means or ability to type from a language that uses a different alphabet than your own, be that Latin, Cyrillic or Hiragana.
