    Extension has not been updated. only updated on chrome extensions. v5.0 has been available for weeks. breaking change if not updated to 5.0. lift your game IBM

    Why do I have to install this and a desktop application to download something?

    Also, the desktop installer terminated explorer.exe, failed to install because it didn't terminate it properly, and when I manually started it afterwards it put explorer in some crashing loop that forced me to restart my computer.

    By some standards this probably classifies as malware

    Why do I need to install this in both my browser and computer to use when every other cloud storage allows download access without installing extra software. Very Annoying.

    From the permissions area this extension needs to exchange messages with programs other than firefox and access your data for all websites. That's completely inappropriate.

    For many reasons, totally unimpressive. I would give this zero stars if possible. Touted with the rationale of "fast downloads" it is actually rather slow, taking 5 minutes to dump a 5.6GB file, at 160-190 Mbps -- half of my normal download bandwidth.
    With all of the privacy and hacking concerns right now, are we really expected to give IBM Aspera access to our data for all websites and allow it to exchange messages with programs other than our browser?? That is ridiculous.
    The two-step browser add-on and client install routine is lengthy. Does it really take 49.5 MB of bloatware to enable file transfer? How much of our data is this little beast harvesting?

    What is the point of this huge application! Just an attempt to try and get on an end users PC for the sake of it. Why can't I just download a simple file without having to install, an add-on, and then a blasted full on application.

    This is unreal and crazy in 2022 to be fair.

    Hello. The point of this extension and the corresponding desktop application is to move large files FAST from your computer to an IBM Aspera server.
    You need to have an account on an Aspera server.
    The extension enables you to use a web browser to do this.

    It’s complicated because this is a network layer application. And the network connection is on your computer, no?

    Would you like it better if it was integrated with your computer’s file browser?

    As of this date this extension for Firefox appears to be broken in Firefox 86.0 in Windows10. The Aspera help file suggests that in a 'certain browser' it may not be functional, and that by switching to another browser you will be able to use the upload function on the Aspera console web page. Sure enough switching to MS Edge allowed the functionality. I am not sure what to guess the problem is with FF and Aspera.
