Works well enough, unfortunately not with youtube, no matter what "lua" you download. However, this seems to be more a problem coming from youtube rather than this extension.
And it does work with most porn sites, and it actually works and loads quite well within VLC, without much lag, and jumping around is working better even than on the website video stream itself even though my internet connection is not good at all.
Only criticism is that sometimes it completely wrecks the GUI of VLC, hovering, the video being outside the main interface etc. This could be fixed in my opinion.

actually works and is incredibly useful and even works with PotPlayer, but entire setup to make it work is technical and tricky and very poorly explained. took me way too much time to figure it out, most people won't be able to do it.

For VLC 64bit version please pay attention to the path C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC

I have a fairly unusual installation. I am running Firefox Quantum on Puppy Linux 6.0.5. I am booting an obsolete, underpowered (Intel Atom processor) netbook from a 4GB flash drive. This enables me to view videos (where they usually hang with a more conventional OS installation). However, I was not able to get audio working with the videos until I found the "Open in VLC" extension. It took me a while playing around with the extension before I got the hang of how to get it to work, but now I'm pretty happy with it. It works very well with You Tube videos. The setup is the only way I have been able to watch any videos streaming from the internet on this laptop.

If you are having problems with videos streaming from the net, you might want to give "Open in VLC" a try.

Does what it says it does. Unfortunately doesn't support youtube's DASH-Playback, so no more than 720p resolution supported on youtube.

Works perfectly, the only con it is that you have to install an external software in order to work properly.

This is a great replacement for VLC YouTube Shortcut, which still is not a WebExtension. That being said, that addon has options for play AND enqueue, as well as keyboard shortcuts to hold ctrl or shift while clicking link to choose either one. While these are already useful, I use a custom script with both of these addons, which makes the 2 different options even better. Having these features here as well would make this the perfect replacement for VLC YouTube Shortcut. I kindly ask this be looked into to see if these features can still be done. I still recommend this for Firefox 57+ users regardless :)
