    Good idea but in my opinion the impact is too strong to view.
    I suggest to change the color for non HTTPS sites in light blue, light gray or better leave untouched.
    Also the HTTPS green must be more light for me like #d8ffd8.

    The latest version allows you to change the colour of the highlighting to your preferred colour.
    I hope this improves your experience.
