Even though this is said to be for dark text on light background, it also seems to work pretty well when using some addons for black/dark background with light text. Although it does have some problems/quirks.
When using the extensions "Night Mode Pro" or "Owl" (interchangeably on various websites, sometimes italicized/underlined text will turn black on the dark background.
For an example - when using "Night Mode Pro" on the following website: http://forum.luminous-landscape.com/index.php?topic=121095.new#new
It would also be nice if the toolbar button acted as a permanent on/off switch, and/or was settable according to website domain, subdomain, or url. It can get annoying to always have to switch it on when going to a new website - or even the same website in a new/different tab.
Still very helpful though, when needed.. Even for my dark/black backgrounds.

yeffeɣ-d deg 8 年前Thank you for the review. Also thanks for pointing out Night Mode Pro, I'm amazed by how well that extension compliments mine when using the "night mode" option that inverts the darkening into whitening.
That italics font issue doesn't seem to be dependent on my app, given that I don't have any special rules for italics. But I'll see if I can do something about it.
The new version is pretty much ready, coming with an options page where you can choose where to enable automatically (given a certain domain, URL, or simply a keyword), and a checkbox to just enable on every website altogether. Life is busy so It's been a long time coming. Expect it in a week or less - depending on the approval process time.

- Font Contrast only applies Bold text on most sites only, nothing else.
None of the contrast, color, brightness, or opacity features work. Websites especially those who use closed shadow‑DOM components, CSS variables for all text colors, and !important rules that the extension can’t override.
The result is consistent: bold works, everything else does nothing. This extension has many limitations at the root level and in how the extension handles shadow‑DOM and variable‑based color systems. A fix would require support for rewriting CSS variables and penetrating closed shadow roots
Instructions are written by an NPC written for an AI or bot. Extension doesn't play nice if you have other extensions like uBlock or VPNs and more. It needs a major update.
You need to know how to tweak your settings. Otherwise, the default settings don't do much. It needs a toggle to see changes with and without as you change the settings.
It's funny how there are many Chromium extensions that do this job well, but only this one claims to adjust the contrast fonts. Clearly Mozilla's marketshare is dropping fast and developers want no part of it.
If F. Fusco, the developers spends a bit more time providing instructions and updating his guide which is not current it could be a "game changer". But it looks like it's abandoned. - Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur ilovemikael, 10 個月前
- Nice readability increase for common sites that stupidly use gray text. Usually works and I forget it's running. The occasional site can't have its text darkened. Working fine with uBlock Origin and NoScript on Android.
I had to keep advanced mode off because it would darken the light background of text on common sites, and disables subpixel rendering. With advanced mode off it works great. - Yettwasezmel 4 ɣef 5sɣur Aseqdac Firefox 10745620, 1 年前

- Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur sssss wwwww, 3 年前Nifty plugin for making web page text more readable.
If anyone is interested in its Chrome version, here is link to the plugin's chrome port.

Chrome port works exactly as the Firefox plugin, except for toggle on/off button. - Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur EerorErrie, 3 年前It's a bit complicated to set it functional, but it works, as a font-zoomer, that's it. Nice job for saving my eyes from those stupid micro-font webs, thanks.

- Yettwasezmel 1 ɣef 5sɣur Aseqdac Firefox 13404543, 3 年前If I select blacklist, it resets zoom level. So I adjust zoom level, and it deselects blacklist. Can't really change anything at all.

- Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur mmmel4real, 3 年前Works great if not using an extension to make websites darker. It doesn't really change the contrast of light text on dark backgrounds. (I played with all the options.) I don't think this is the fault of this extension though because the other extension takes over all styling. So no stars deducted.
I like the option to increase the text size too. It adds the missing toolbar icon that Firefox refuses to give us for toggling custom font size.
Text looks a lot better in pages with lighter backgrounds and black text. I also love all the great options for getting things just right, and I love that the changes can be customized for each website, or use blacklist mode. - Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur NikiRandom, 3 年前Only just installed this but it seems very good. Simple and effective.
My only minor criticism so far is that the icon is, ironically, pretty much invisible in most of the FF themes that I have.
Oh, and it doesn't seem to work on Facebook?
