I've been using this add-on for over a month. I use it simply to speed up the turtle playback as the spaces between words are way too long. This is done with the center slider.
Thanks for your review! If you really just need to speed up the turtle playback, have a look at my "Duolingo Sound Controls" extension, which doesn't add anything to the UI.
