Looks like this finally had an update! (Yay?) I hope so. Currently testing. Yo, stupid people to make text darker by a lot go into the settings. Don't give low stars due to your ignorance.

PS. Automatic mode can't be disabled from Toolbar button. You have to disable it from Options

I really appreciate this add-on, for the reason you give... Some pages have grey text that can't even be read. Are they paying for the ink that they can't make the text black?

But I have two problems that take away one star:
1) I don't know what changed by now if I'm trying to write or answer a post on nextdoor.com , the text is invisible. If I highlight it with Ctrl-A, it's visible again but only until I do something. It took a while, but I found that if I right-click on the B in the add-on list and click "manual" it's visible, but only for a while.

2) I don't understand the add-on. What is the difference between Blacken and Manual? What does Manual do? When would I use Whiten? .... I don't know what whiten does and if manual does Blacken, then what does blacken do?

Just discovered this brilliant add-on!

Once you turn off "Process Links" in this add-on's Preferences, and set it to "Automatic", it is soooo slick. Increases the text contrast, automatically.

You have to turn off "Process Links", or some pages (ie Google's Results pages) will not show that you've visited a particular link.

This add-on is a good companion to Font Contrast. The latter cannot blacken text of unfolded lj comments, while this one can.

The best in the category. The only thing it needs is a timer to reapply, for things that load on demand like disqus.

Doesn't work with Firefox 71.0.

It worked really, really well up until yesterday, when it seems to have stopped working entirely.

Latest May 14 2019 version works fine but I had to manually install it from the list of versions. Thank you for developing this much needed add-on that is a triumph for common sense. I have contacted a number of sites that use the thin grey font but they ignore me. One was a major tourism destination charging over a thousand dollars for a nights stay and they wonder why their visitor numbers are not what they projected! Another was a literature blog site aimed mainly at seniors that, without the use of Blacken, has hundreds and hundreds of unreadable pages!

Makes the internet readable again.

It just works. I have been struggling mightily with this godawful trend of gray/thin text on a gray/dark background or --heaven for forbid-- WHITE text on a DARK background!
