This is not a screen reader, but just a UI for sending text or documents to ChatGPT and get an audio file back. Since it can not access the current page DOM or accessibility tree, a lot of information, including language attributes, semantic markup (such as and ), which control how the text is to be spoken, gets lost in the process. And don't even dream of "aural" CSS-styles. All in all, rather disappointing :-/

3시간 전에 게시됨Yes, it uses the ChatGPT website to an extent, similar to how hundreds of other extensions use the ChatGPT API, but it has features that make it possible to take advantage of the ChatGPT website in a manner that a regular human simply would not be able to.
For example:
1- ChatGPT does not allow you to toggle audio for your specific text, this extension allows for that by making ChatGPT repeat back user provided text and then toggling the audio accordingly
2- This extension allows you to choose the voices instead of going all the way to settings, making it easy and convenient for users
3- This extension supports sending large texts to ChatGPT and have it repeat back to you by splitting that text into pieces and sending them one by one automatically for the user
4- This extension allows you to download audio for your provided text
5- The extension allows you to have a good reading UI with a play/pause button as well as a playback speed option, which is necessary for readers
Now, some of these you can probably have the website do it for you, although it would take you a lot of time. While others, it is simply not possible without the extension like numbers 4 and 5.
So no, it is not just a "glorified shortcut", understand how something works as well as the value it provides before giving it such a rating.

You need to log-in because the read aloud option is only available in chatgpt if you're signed in.- 5점 만점에 3점David Busto Zoni 님, 3달 전Currently it only half playing a fragment of a txt file, does not allow for download and can't browse properly. TTS sounds lovely however

7달 전에 게시됨Giving it a one star rating because u have to do one extra step is crazy. Stick to integrated reader if that works for you.
For people who actually care: the audio is generated using chatgpt so users have to be on the chatgpt site; thus, the extra step that honza1616 is complaining about.개발자 답글
7달 전에 게시됨Hey, it censors content because that is sadly how chatgpt is designed.
I did, however, make that clear in the initial screen that all processing is done by chatgpt. As for the getting stuck part, that can happen sometimes if you generate more than a hour worth of idea -- when that does happen i recommend waiting a few minutes to cool off chatgpt before using it again.- 5점 만점에 5점blueleogreen 님, 8달 전Great add-on. I have the premium plan and find the pricing very fair and reasonable.
You have to bring a little time with you, when you have long texts or want to generate a bunch of audios in short intervals, cause of the restrictions Chat GPT enforces. But that is clearly stated in pop-ups in the add-on interface. - not sure why everyones rating this so low. it literally works so smoothly and if you use chatgpt a lot the voice is familiar obviously bc its the chatgpt voice. not much else to say. if i were to be really picky id wanna see a feature to have it play in the same tab without opening a new tab when you select it from the right click panel but hey it works its smooth and its free so i love it

Did you download something without understanding what it does just for fun?
This extension only deletes the chats that it creates. It creates chats to give you the free text to speech as the description states.- Leider sind hier die Angaben in dem Beschreibenden Text nicht richtig. Wenn man Texte im vollen Umfang hören will muss man bezahlen. Ansonsten ist nur bis zu einer bestimmten Wortgrenze das abspielen möglich. War anfangs mal anderes jetzt wird einem ein Upgrate aufgezwungen um dieses zu nutzen...Schade
