- Waardering: 4 van 5door John Doe, één dag geledenI just tried this again after noticing that there was an update regarding permission management. Unfortunately, the result is disappointing—maybe even concerning for me.
Steps I took:
Firefox Add-on Page > Permissions & Data > “Access your data for all websites” → Unchecked, but it automatically re-checks after refreshing.
Summarizerrrr > Settings > FAB Domain Control → Set to Allowed Sites Only → youtube.com.
Summarizerrrr > Settings > General > “Access your data for all websites” → Unchecked. It stays unchecked for about 5 seconds, then automatically re-enables after refreshing.
I also tried unchecking both at almost the same time, but both permissions reactivate after a refresh.
As someone who was a victim of a previous add-on on the Firefox Add-on Store that requested “access to all sites” and was open-source, I cannot safely use this add-on. It’s really unfortunate because I genuinely love Summarizerrrr.
I know other trusted add-ons (MAL-Sync comes to mind for now; I’ll update this review with more intrusive ones after I check them) that are actually more functionally invasive than Summarizerrrr. However, they don’t list “Access to all data” under Required Permissions on their add-on page. Instead, they offer an optional “Access to all data” permission, which only activates if you explicitly grant it—and if granted, they can indeed access data on all websites. Why can’t Summarizerrrr adopt the same approach?
