door Yofi, 3 maanden geledenWorking nicely after the update, and it now runs well across my devices.
Thanks for the improvements!
I do have some feature requests.
It would be really helpful if there were a way to view a snapshot of the current device, sync closed tab groups, and possibly add a backup option (either local or cloud-based).
I once experienced a situation where after a firefox update, my closed tab groups disappeared and were very difficult to recover.
Ideally, it would work somewhat like Google Chrome, where tab groups can be opened or closed anytime from any device. However, I understand this might be difficult to implement given the current sync behavior in Firefox.

I will look into the feature requests you put through. I had them in my thoughts but could never think of a clean way to implement it. My worry has been that it may become confusing for users to follow. Will think about it again during the weekend when i get some time. :)
Hello Yofi. A few did report a similar behavior on specific environments. To help me debug it: Is your firefox sync on? - Its able to sync your bookmarks etc..?
I may have found the issue. Its a limitation with the storage amount firefox sync provides. Implemented a compression/decompression and chunking fix for it. Should be out with 1.5.0 version. I would be glad if you can update/install it, try it once and drop me a note.
1.5.0 is submitted. Should be available in an hour or two.

Not sure if "Mirror" is NOT selected, will it duplicate groups or update them by adding new tabs?
If I click "push", then sync the account on both devices, the other device does not show the new data even after several minutes wait.
Bug 1: current version is loading the first tab of each group twice on first load.
Bug 2: GUID ID appears instead of device name in drop-down menu on other devices. After a while on one device the name appeared. Not clear how it behaves.

Response to developer follow-up:
Thank you for your response. I agree 100% with your decision on the cloud storage.
I would just clarify the behavior to the users so they don't have surprises.
Bug 2: I confirm they are synced now, so not a bug, but maybe inform users that it'll take a while.
Bug 1: it might be that I synched twice, like you said, but I think it happened on the first sync, and actually clicking "mirror" later automatically deleted the duplicates, as expected. macOS with Firefox 151.0.2 (64-bit).Antwoord van ontwikkelaar

The time taken for sync to reflect on other devices depends on Firefox sync itself. It is an eventual sync model. Which means, it sometimes takes longer for the sync to reflect.
I chose to use Firefox's sync feature for the storage instead of own private cloud based solution for few reasons:
* Safer for users to trust firefox than a random me
* Works until firefox stops supporting sync - long life guarantee
* I did not want to charge users for this plugin - using my own cloud would mean I will need to pay for the storage etc.. and will need to charge something from users.
Using a private cloud could have allowed me to provide instantaneous sync but the cons of that (primarily privacy/safety concerns) made me choose this path.
Bug 1: Can you share your OS and firefox version please? I would like to see if I reproduce this issue. Have not heard of this behavior yet - doesnt mean it cannot happen though, there is always a first time!. One known behavior - eg: if you have a logged in gmail under a tabgroup, opening it on a different device would automatically redirect the page to login. Which means, the tab(url) no longer matches the tab(url) on the initial device. So if you perform a sync again, its going to detect the missing url tab and will create one!
Bug 2: This is because of the firefox sync latency that I mentioned above. But the name should have reflected in both of your devices if it started working on one of your device. - Waardering: 5 van 5door Firefox-gebruiker 13541191, 21 dagen geledenThanks a lot, this is a close as firefox have ever get to the Workspaces session of Edge;;; shame official development is ignoring such great feature (that exits in vivaldi and others too)

Yes, am waiting for even more integrated sync feature from firefox. - Waardering: 5 van 5door louk, 2 maanden geledenAfter switching from Chrome to Firefox, there were a few features I missed, such as the tab group sync. I came across this extension and after some getting used to, it does exactly what it is designed to do: sync groups and their tabs between devices. One suggestion is to include a way to (de)select all groups at once.

2 maanden geleden geplaatstEdit: Hey Louk, Deselect/Select All has been implemented in the last patch release. I could not update the comment here till today. If you have auto-update for plugins on, you probably noticed the option already. Cheers.
Hi Louk, Glad it helped you. Deselect/Select seems to be useful. Will look into it. Thank you for the suggestion. - Waardering: 3 van 5door Firefox-gebruiker 19771259, 3 maanden geledenI didn't expect this to over write my existing tab groups on the computer i was syncing my old data to. I suppose it worked, just not as I expected.

The normal flow does not replace anything. It's an additive sync at heart. If mirror is checked, it forces a replace - that option is for users who do want to replicate their session state across devices. - Waardering: 5 van 5door kiro785423, 4 maanden geleden
