Sorry for the bad experience. Did you select the text first? You need to select text so the extension can generate the menu automatically. You can also right-click and use it as a menu item.

It took me a little while to get it to recognize the Amazon, but for anyone interested, here is the URL/command https:// www.amazon.com.mx/s?k={text} (delete de blank space between // and www)
Just change the domain to match your country; since I'm from Mexico, I used .com.mx.
