I love this add-on, but there is one aspect that I find rather annoying. If I right click on an image and select "Open image in new tab," then the new tab opens immediately to the right of whichever tab is currently active. But if I right click on an image and select "Open in BetterViewer," the BetterViewer tab opens to the right of *all* tabs currently open, which can require a lot of scrolling to the right when I have lots of tabs open. It also means that whenever I exit the BetterViewer tab, whichever tab is immediately to its left opens and become the active tab, rather than a return to the tab on which I right clicked the image I wanted to view. If the developer updates BetterViewer to behave the way opening an image in a new tab behaves, I'll update my review to five stars.

Used to be a 5 / 5 extension, then after the v3 fiasco with Chrome, got updated for parity with the Chrome Exctension. It lost essentially all that made it worth using, just for it to be useless the same way in two browsers now.

Also appears to be entirely abandoned by the developer.

A real pity, it used to be an extension that I considered worth it to be included natively in Firefox

It’s really sad to see that the author doesn’t care about their own creation. For two months, it hasn’t been working as it should, and there’s no update to fix it. Now this add-on is useless.

newest update removes BetterViewer from being the Default viewer and simply adds it as an option at the bottom of the menu.

...this entirely defeats the point of BetterViewer, as I installed it specifically to REPLACE the default image viewer, not to have an option.

Also I created an account just to write this review, BetterViewer was almost perfect before, now it's pretty much useless.

Ever since version 2 it doesn't open images in BetterViewer by default. And that's highly annoying as it was the only reason why I used it so extensively compared to other similar extensions. If I now forget to go all the way down in context menu after right click and instead of "open image in new tab" I don't click "Open image in betterviewer" I have to do additional steps of clicking again and choosing it.

Don't know if this is Mozilla's reason or not, but it makes me want to use this extension less and remove it, as it's then easier to just screenshot images via other apps in my PC and/or open them in that editor and it'll be same amount of clicks.

This extension is unironically better than any built-in photo editor/viewer Windows ever had by default. 99% of the things I want to do with the picture, I can do while it's still in the browser.
Crazy good.

Edit: Changed from 5/5 to 1/5 since features got either wrecked by FF updates and/or dev ditched the support.

Amazing addon. If there is a way to, please allow this for installation in android. It is working pretty well, but needs a specific third-party firefox fork to install.

5/5 for being the only 'image viewer' extension out of the dozen I've tried with the ability to pan/move the entire image within the space of the browser, instead of it being locked in the center.

Does exaclty what it says and that in a very smooth way.

Two things that keep me from switching from the now-unsupported Better Image Viewer: the dark theme isn't the same as firefox's default, and the image can't be made to fit the entire window (not fullscreen, just browser window width or length). Even better if the latter can be set to default.

Great extension.. But photo editor is not working right now.. A simple request to the developer: Is it possible to add a settings button to switch "always show details panel" . That would be very helpful..
