I use it because of privacy, but that "1" other pass manager has much better app, much MUCH better app and addon.

Far behind the competition.

As a free offering, it's pretty good. As a paid offering, it is, with the exception of aliases, pretty awful. Autofill is incredibly inconsistent, frustrating to use and all around unreliable.

I don't like that it's only a 6 numbers pin code to lock your add-on, it should be longer or have a password option, this isn't secure enough for me to use as of now and I will stick with Bitwarden until they make the pin option have longer numbers or add a password option.

I really like the Proton suite overall.

However, the authentication process for Proton Pass is just... not working properly.

Either:
- I don’t set a separate password for Proton Pass (keep the same password as my Proton account), then Proton Pass extension allows anyone who is logged into my browser to use my passwords without asking first for authentication.
Or:
- I set a specific password for Proton Pass. Then I am asked to first log in to my Proton account with my regular password, and then log in again to Proton Pass with my Proton Pass password. And yet, the extension continues to ask me to “activate Proton Pass” by authenticating... so I’m unable to use my passwords.

This is so confusing. In the first case, why isn’t the extension asking for the Proton password before activation? In the second case, why doesn’t it accept only(!!) the Proton Pass password and start working?

(Thankfully, I have my KeePass manager as a backup.)

It's been two months since the ProtonPass extension for Firefox was updated here. I would like Proton to make the Firefox extension available for download on their website. I would also like to see a Debian/Ubuntu repository for the Linux desktop version of ProtonPass so that you don't always have to download and install the .deb package manually. Autofill still doesn't work reliably on many sites compared to 1Password or Bitwarden. You can write to the support which websites these are, but nothing more than “we are working on it” comes back. Oh yes, ProtonDrive for Linux would also be really really great so far. When is it finally coming?

Getting worse by the day. Essentially non-functional on Android. I'm looking at alternative options. 9nths that lasted, Not a change was made

It did not put an icon on the Firefox toolbar and there are no instructions - I couldn't figure out how to use it.

The claim that internet connection is not required to access passwords, as stated in the extension's description, is misleading. Upon restarting Firefox (closing and reopening the browser) without an internet connection or access to Proton servers, the extension displays the error message: "Your session could not be resumed. (Internet connection lost)." This demonstrates that the extension relies on an active connection to function properly, contrary to the description.

A large percentage of the time, it doesn't work for various reasons. Doesn't understand that I'm logging into a site, doesn't work with many sites, doesn't keep a long enough address to know about similar yet different website usernames/passwords. I keep hoping it will get better, I actually pay for a Proton Unlimited account and have communicated with support many, many times.

Looks great, but a couple of issues:

1 - Syncing your vault with SimpleLogin results in every login being duplicated as an Alias. If you are not using SimpleLogin, then ignore this. If you are, i recommend you do NOT sync, at least not until they fix it, which might take years.

2 - No regex matching or similar on urls. This is a huge downside. It was reported as a feature-request sometime in 2023 I think, and it is still not implemented.

Keep in mind these issues are general ProtonPass issues, and not isolated to this extension. I can not make the switch form Bitwarden until these are fixed.

This add-on needs a keyboard shortcut to fill in credentials.

I hink I should let you know that the ProtonPass extension is not working with tor browser, it doesn't authenticate when tried to use it... you can test it on you end also... i see your previous response to others on how to complain.. please i cant find that page here. whould you send the link ?

NEVER consistant, most of the time it doesn't recognize that its suppose to FILL IN THE BLANKS !!! Getting rid of it. BTW, ZERO customer service, even on FB they ask a question to your question but NEVER give solutions.

Writing a review for their extension is challenging because it's hard to know how much of the bad UX is from their extension and how much is just rot from their bad data model

That said, they could make the extension easier to use if they chose to. For example, if you want a new password field - not _the_ password field but _a_ new password field, your only recourse is to click on the huge plus, generate a password, then click edit on the item, create a new hidden text field and paste the generated password, being very careful not to allow anything to interfere with your clipboard in the interim. What a disaster. The gold standard (1Password) has a dedicated "password" field and underneath that field is a dedicated "generate password" action

The fact that Proton Pass has been stuck in this 2000s UX for as long as I've been using it demonstrates that they really don't care at all about their users, no matter how many "vote for features!!11" forums they offer

For the most basic of password management needs, Proton Pass [in its current state] is OK, but it is nearly a decade behind, which is obvious.
Compared to how Bitwarden matches by base domain, host, regular expression, etc., Proton Pass may as well be unusable (uses a simple search, so having a frequently used email of @domain.com and then having a domain.com website to log into means you get hundreds of "matching" credentials.)
UI is not compact, at all--very inefficient UI.

Proton Pass setup and getting the Pass Icon to display is confusing, despite it being an "Ultimate" package... assumed all Proton panels, Icons and features would automatically load initially and subsequently "ready to go."
Though the online user-manual is often very lengthy for each feature, clarity is lacking. Approximately 20-screen scrolls in an attempt to explain how to "add alias" e-mail names.

When it works it's lovely, but it simply isn't as reliable as Bitwarden. Sometimes it won't spot a login field, sometimes it will fill in the password but not the username, and sometimes it will fill in the password wrong even though the copy in the vault is accurate and works when manually copy & pasted.

In my end, this add-on wasn't even remotely nice to use, it does everything what it says, and it does it beautifully. But because of one critical, persistent issue, troubleshooting this add-on was a literal saga filled with confusion and torment.
The issue is that it sometimes kicks me out of my session and just refuses to sign me back in and turns into a loop where I input my email address and password over and over again only to end up with an error every single time. I used different forks of Firefox and it still did the same thing, re-installing the add-on or using different Firefox profiles didn't fixed anything, forcing me to use the Web App or Windows program of Proton Pass. I don't know if it's because of my setup or the extension... Either way, this is not the normal behaviour you would expect from this add-on.

Just wish it worked on Android. I am unable to fully use Proton Pass on my Galaxy Tab S7, since it won't get Android 14, 13 is the last it will get. Please make an Android version of your addon for older android devices like tablets on Android 13 or under. Once you do, an easy 5 star.

bad service

I find the program friendly and good until my account was blocked for some unknown reason after I had set up email. Support did not clearly tell me that I only received all kinds of links, which is a pity because otherwise it is good.

I love proton services but this extension literally makes a lot of websites unusable, triggering errors like Permission denied to access property "tagName"

ProtonPass extension breaks almost everything. All the websites I use for business either go blank or have broken drop-down menues. BTW, sometimes the suggestions have absolutely nothing to do with the website I'm on…

The subscription plan is very poorly thought out, I have the "mail plus" subscription and if I want unlimited proton pass I have to take "proton unlimited" which is a price difference that makes no sense.
The free version is much too restricted.
There are also a lot of bugs: the fields are filled in but the validate/connect button does not activate, or refuses to connect.
It also lacks many functions, the "check up" of weak passwords for example does not exist, the sorting functions are more than limited, all this is too basic.
In short, it's too expensive and it's too limited.
I wanted to switch from Firefox manager to proton pass and finally I backtracked.
I love proton mail but there is still a lot of work to be done to make proton pass a premier password manager.

Il y a du progrès à faire. J'ai tenté d'utiliser ce gestionnaire de mdp, et en tant qu'informaticien, jutilise bcp de pages web d'administrations (vmware, des firewall etc...) et c'est (beaucoup) trop souvent que le gestionnaire de mdp ne reconnait pas et ne remplie pas les zones. J'ai aussi souvent des cas où le mot de passe prérempli ne fonctionne pas. Bref trop de bizarrerie, j'ai changé de crémerie et ça va mieux.
