As Matoi said, as of today (March 1st 2026) the extension is broken. The page darkens just fine, but the menu options are all in white.

Currently broken as of February 21, 2026 on version 1.1.1. Menu options and chat boxes are all blank white, and the page view extends all the way across the screen.

Ever since a recent update all documents lag like crazy and are essentially unable to be viewed or edited correctly. Which is great for something I use to, you know, view and edit things.

Until the developer fixes this, find another app. Except you can't because the other apps are worse.

It turns docs dark like advertised, but whenever it's dark mode the page lags a lot and it's really annoying. As soon as light mode is turned back on it runs like a dream.

Saw the high user-rate and the positive rating ratio and thought I'd give it a try. However, I had the same issue that a lot of the other 1-star reviewers had where the extension simply did not work, no matter what I did with my settings or the extension itself. Just downloaded Better Darker Docs instead since I don't intend to mess with images or emojis.

Does not work. Tried enable/disable the extension. Tried closing Firefox. Nothing works.

Does not work at all. Says Dark Mode is running but screen remains blinding white. Tried turning it off then back on, tried restarting the browser, just does not work at all. Useless waste of time

The text color doesn't change in Docs, making text illegible. The extension doesn't work at all in Sheets.

I can't see any text on my documents no matter how I change the text color. It also permanently alters my documents even after deleting the extension. I would really support the extension if I could fix this, but no solution is working. Would appreciate some guidance.

I would love to offer this app more stars as the bright, white-out of Google docs is annoying.

On the 'Dark' setting it usefully advises us that 'black text is hard to read.' It fails to point out that on 'black' it makes the text unreadable.
