Open In Sidebar option added to Search Actions in v1.9.9. There are limitations, however.

1. No POST engine compatibility
2. Sidebar must be opened manually by the user to see results

There are likely more issues but I haven't tested much.

I can give it a shot. If you have a github account and are familiar with sideloading, you can start a thread at the support site and help test the progress.

I tried that a while back but the sidebar isn't handled like a regular tab and some things simply won't work. POST engines fail completely as a result of the limited back-end. I'll give the API another look, but I think it's intended more for as a UI for the add-on, not an alternative tab for browsing or search results.

I was using Swift Selection Search until it got deprecated. Looking for an alternative I found ContextSearch. And if Swift Selection Search was good, ContextSearch is even better! A very customisable context search add-on.

Rémálom! Van amikor működik, de többnyire nem, a beállított keresőt elfelejti vagy egyszerűen kihagyja a listából, a mappákba betenni valamit szinte lehetetlen, ha véletlenül sikerül, akkor pedig nem jeleníti meg.

Habe eine eigene Suchmaschine erfolgreich hinzugefügt, die Einstellungen werden aber, trotz Speichern, leider nicht behalten. Alle Felder sind nach Neustart von Firefox wieder leer.

makes this add-on UNIQUE !

Besides, it is HIGHLY CUSTOMIZABLE : provides
• different KINDS OF OF MENUS (Context/Quick/Toolbar/Sidebar) to launch searches
• many UI CONFIGURATIONS OPTIONS to fit your likes

Just a [very] few points to note :
• too many options (time to master) ?
• missing tool-tips & not always detailed enough ones...
