I tried to run this while in a private windows and it obviously didn't use the private windows and instead run the check in normal windows. As a results my cookies & caches are populated by thousands of cookies & data from old sites in my bookmarks. This is a major fail. I want to clean my bookmarks, not to leave footsteps all over.

Ersteinmal herzlichen Dank für dieses Addon. Zwar hilft es mir (noch nicht) es ist für Einzellfälle aber schon nett.

Falls es noch weiterentwickelt wird, irgendwann, hätte ich einen Wunsch für neue Funktionen.

Problemstellung:
Ich nutze mein Firefox sicher schon seit mindestens 10 Jahren, oder mehr. 25 Profile, viele Tabs, viele Lesezeichen. Teils tausende, zumindest viele hunderte.

Durch die Syncronisationsfunktion von Firefox, haben die Lesezeichen sich vervielfacht, das diese oft einfach in neue Ordner abgelegt wurden.

Es haben sich bei mir jetzt grob 13 000 (!!!) Lesezeichen angesammelt. Es ist unmöglich dies Manuell zu löschen oder zu untersuchen.

Eine erweitere Such, sortier und AUswahlfunktoin wäre echt ideal.

Als Funktonsbeispiel wäre hier die Dateiauswahl beim Programm "AllDup" zu nennen.

Hier kann werden auch alle Mehrfacheinträge aufgelistet wie bei diesem Addon, die Auswahl kann aber durch einen Menüeintrag nach unterschiedlichen Kriterien statt finden. So könen einerseit bestimmte Verzeichnisse ausgeschlossen werden (da wird gar nicht gelöscht, Quasi Hauptverzeichnis) und ansonsten wird nach Schema gelöscht. Meist als Auswahl ein bestimmter weitere "Hauptverzeichnissstamm". So kann man beim Suchen auch zwei "Verzeichnisse" auswählen die untersucht werden (mit Unterverzeichnissen) und schon kann man super einfach 100 000 doppelte Dateien finden.

Außerdem kann man auswählen, ob nach Dateiinhalt, oder Dateinamen oder beitem doppelte Einträge gefunden wernden.

Hier als Addon wäre es ideal nach URL und / oder Bezeichnus den Vergleich auszuführen. So will ich teils nur die doppelten URLs ausfiltern, welche auch gleiche Bezeichnungen haben. Da manche Bezeichnunge doppelt vorkommen müssen, als Erinnerung an "Benutzernamen" oder so.

Wenn hier noch ein wenig in Richtung "AllDup" funktionen eingebaut werden könnte, könnte dies geradee in Produktiven Umgebungen wahnsinnig helfen.

Ansonsten, ich war überrascht, das dies Addon so super schnell arbeitet und optisch sehr aufgeräumt wirkt. Sehr angenehm.

I have many bookmarks (20K+), and this add-on seems to have difficulty with processing these many bookmarks. Just on load, it seems to load all bookmarks, which slows down the browser, and even after closing the extension page. I have no choice but to disable it.

This Add-On Might Work, BUT . . .

So, first I encourage everyone to read the "About this extension" section before using the extension to familiarize yourself with a few things like it's Features, Shortcuts and Planned features. Now, the 'Bookmarks Organizer' does what it claims. However, there are some things that the developer didn't think of. One of them and maybe the most important, is a Pause and/or Stop button. Having a Pause and/or Stop Button would be helpful for anyone that has 5000 - 10000+ bookmarks, for the following reasons; It would allow anyone using this extension to pause it and/or stop it, so they could go through the bookmarks that have already been scanned. The other reason is that, if you expect this scan to only take 10 to 25 minutes, think again, especially if your a bookmark addict and you have 5000 - 10000+ bookmarks saved. Because with that many bookmarks saved it's going to take a ... a few hours if not more.
The only other thing I can think of is something that apparently will be added to an up and coming version of the extension. That the ability or the option to 'select multiple bookmarks at once rather than only being able to delete them one by one'. Other than that, give this extension a try, it does work. It's a little slow, but it works. I gave it 3 Stars, but I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't so slow.

After using it it seems to have too many false positives. I'm having to scroll through my 4000+ bookmarks and check every red one to make sure it's not deleting anything it shouldn't. E.g. it assumed youarelistening.to was invalid but there's nothing wrong with that link.

Also, you must make sure you are using a vpn otherwise it will delete anything like torrent bookmarks which don't connect without it.

At this moment I can't see the button I will push when I finally want to delete all the remaining red ones.

Can anyone suggest how to use this extension, please?
Installed it on Portable version 96, I followed the "Start here" arrow and selected from the menu, in my case "duplicates". Then I got a list of duplicate bookmarks. But here I am stuck. I have no idea what to do next to delete the duplicates... totally lost and confused. ???
I must be missing something fundamental and I can't figure out what..

EDIT: I mean NOT deleting duplicated entries one by one but if there is a function to do it automatically by one click. (I am dealing with 3000+ entries...)

Mühsam, hier fehlt mindestens die Möglichkeit mehrere Lesezeichen zu markieren um alle gleichzeitig zu löschen. Jedes einzeln entfernen und auch noch jedesmal zu bestätigen frisst nur unnötig Zeit.

Good to detect broken links, and duplicates, but useless for organizing bookmarks. I didn't have any problem with the bookmarks analysis (almost 300 bookmarks checked quickly).

It's a decent tool and does a good job of finding dupes! But there're no mass commands or buttons to deal with the dupes in one shot but rather you have to sit there and manually click on every dupe checkbox to take action.

The Find Broken URLs is a good feature but many websites like linkedin, facebook that do not allow webscrapers, see it as a threat, causing Bookmarks Organizer to generate a false positive report that the bookmark is broken or dead. The average person using this add-on needs to see friendlier http errors such as "the target web url does not allow remote checking!" as opposed to http 404!

Fool proof duplicate and dead bookmark organizer ... with a huge BUT ... you have to confirm manually every single change to the corrections (redirect, delete, whitelist) ... and since its visual, you can't select the 'ok' by pressing space or arrows, ..... and this can quickly become very very annoying.
Please add an option to disable the confirmation box. thank you.

Nice sleek GUI, but reports too many false positives for broken links. Should be restricted to 404 responses only, or at least provide it as an option. The deduplicator function works, but the GUI provides no way to group-select detected items. Users with perhaps fifty or more duplicate URLs should expect to click "delete" for an unreasonable amount of time. I had over 400, so it was unfortunately an instant uninstall for me. If the developer fleshes out the options a LITTLE more, I may be back.

Mit den zur Verfügung stehenden Funktionen bin ganz zufrieden. Nur die Bezeichnung als "Organizer" finde ich stark übertrieben.

Would be even better if there was options to select multiple duplicate webpages. To help save you time manually deleting them all.

Very useful, but could be more useful (to me). Actually quite cumbersome to use.

- Doesn't test for duplicate tags. Misspellings and the like mean I have duplicate tags.
- blacklisted locations for the folders or default bookmark to delete. Many of my duplicated bookmarks are in the root folder; I'm really not sure how they got there (so it would be the default folder to delete the delete the duplicate). I use tags and not folders for searching.
- whitelisted folders which should not count - I have an addon called "time capsule" which uses bookmarks to remind me that pages exist periodically. Its bookmarks are not duplicates per se.
- The preferences are not a button on the main page.
- I assume you've never actually used your program on a normal user's setup or have OCD. After about fifty deletions one-by-one, even after turning off the confirmations, it gets old. I have less than one percent duplicates but it's too slow to actually use your addon.

It's OK. It finds the errant book marks but all that that can be done is delete them manually one by one. Life's too short ;)

+Make it possible to remove folders, typically if the bookmark was the only one inside the folder and it was deleted, should be able to delete the folder too, without going to the Firefox Bookmarks view.

It's a great improvement over the older version I tried, keep up the good work.


reply: The checkboxes only appear if you are at the very top of the list. It would be better if you could make that part not scroll off the screen, as another layer or frame over the main frame.
