TECHNICAL OVERVIEW:

AI Memory is a productivity extension that helps users preserve conversation context when working with AI chatbots (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity).

HOW IT WORKS:

SNAPSHOT CREATION:
User clicks "Create Snapshot Prompt" button in popup
A structured prompt template is copied to clipboard
User pastes this prompt into AI chat
AI generates a structured summary of the conversation
User copies AI's response and saves it via the extension
Snapshots are stored locally in browser.storage.local
CONTEXT RESTORATION:
User clicks on a saved snapshot in the popup
Snapshot text is copied to clipboard
User pastes it into a new chat to restore context
No automatic injection - user controls all actions
QUICK PROMPTS:
5 pre-defined prompt templates for common tasks
User selects a prompt, optionally with selected text
Prompt is copied to clipboard for manual use

TECHNICAL IMPLEMENTATION:

Manifest Version 2 (Firefox)
Uses browser.storage.local for all data persistence
Content scripts inject on supported AI chat domains only
No external servers or APIs (except optional Telegram feedback - not activated in current version)
All data stored locally, never transmitted externally
Watchdog module monitors extension health every 15 seconds

PERMISSIONS JUSTIFICATION:

"storage" - Required to save and retrieve snapshots, settings, and enabled sites list. All data stays local.
"activeTab" - Allows the extension to interact with the active chat tab when user clicks popup buttons (copy/paste operations).
Content Scripts (matches: chat.openai.com, claude.ai, etc.) - Enables text insertion into chat input fields and extraction of selected text. Only activates on user-enabled sites.

DATA HANDLING:

Zero data collection
No telemetry or analytics
No external API calls
All data stored in browser.storage.local
Data deleted on extension uninstall
No user tracking or fingerprinting

LOCALIZATION:

LIMITATIONS (Free Version):
- Maximum 5 snapshots (FIFO removal)
- Manual send only (no auto-injection)
- Maximum snapshot size: 50,000 characters

SECURITY:
- No eval() or remote code execution
- All scripts are inline, no external dependencies
- Clipboard API with execCommand fallback
- Input validation and sanitization on all user data
