Why this and not other similar add-on?
Most of the other adds-on have around 13 rules to remove garbage fields. But ClearURLs has 65 rules to remove garbage fields and much of them are regex-rules (so the rule does not only block one field, it blocks all fields with the same structure). Also, ClearURLs is a open source.
If you are a kind of average user looking to improve privacy without loosing a decade studying a PhD in tech details... ClearURLs is the most complete ready-to-use plug-and-play alternative.
I would like to suggest future requests to the author:
1) To test the system performance impact of the 65 rules. I don't have know-how to distinguish if the 65 rules are indispensable. If "yes", then keep all and add more rules! But if some of them are exceptional and affects system resources/performance, then it could be interesting to prioritize system performance.
2) To evolve ClearURLs in an all-in-one add-on for URLs nasty issues ("clearing", "redirecting", "skipping" etc).
I perfectly understand the author' point of view, in the sense that some requests demand tons of work, not just for build the add-on, but also for keep it updated, supported etc. But from the user' point of view, less adds-on, less system resources, better performance etc... is always more than welcome and most desirable.
I will be more than happy to help donating for this kind of all-in-one add-on.
Congrats and thank you to the author!

Still breaks Google sheets as of this writing. - 评分 1 / 5来自 Tio,1 天前On desktop at least(didn't try it on mobile) I found a bug that doesn't let me open images on Google images most of the time, and when it does let me, it does't let me close them.

It's related to doing multiple consecutive searches in a row using the page's form element, such as the youtube or google search boxes. Then the url bar will flicker between search term A and search term B. - 评分 5 / 5来自 Zyrek,2 天前

I spent days now trying to troubleshoot what was causing it (I have many extensions) and the moment I disabled this one, the cpu fans slowed down and my system is back to normal. Responsive and snappy.

I also noticed a very high amount of CPU usage while this was all happening.
I'm using Floorp (a Firefox fork) and I have a few other add-ons enabled, so I don't wanna immediately push all the blame on it; however, disabling the add-on made all of these problems disappear. - 评分 4 / 5来自 Firefox 用户 18785016,3 天前

Observing the network traffic in the developer tools (with persist logs on), I see that the full URL is called and not being cleaned.. https ://www.amazon.com/dp/exampleProduct/ref=sxin_0_pb?__mk_de_DE=ÅMÅŽÕÑ&keywords=tea&pd_rd_i=exampleProduct&pd_rd_r=8d39e4cd-1e4f-43db-b6e7-72e969a84aa5&pd_rd_w=1pcKM&pd_rd_wg=hYrNl&pf_rd_p=50bbfd25-5ef7-41a2-68d6-74d854b30e30&pf_rd_r=0GMWD0YYKA7XFGX55ADP&qid=1517757263&rnid=2914120011

Whether I click directly a link or use the "Copy Clean Link Location", it just goes to the tracker or gives the link with the tracker. - 评分 2 / 5来自 ginny3553,1 个月前Breaks a lot of Google Sheets functionality, which is very frustrating, as I've used this extension for a long time, but the issues with Google Sheets are new. I'd happily update my review to a higher star rating if this issue was fixed.
- 评分 2 / 5来自 John,1 个月前I rather like the extension but as has been noted by others it breaks google sheets and also breaks google docs (albeit to a lesser extent). If this were fixed or a way provided to fix it, I would gladly give 5 stars and recommend to everyone.

Today, I found that it somehow breaks functionality in Google Sheets. When the extension is enabled, basic keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl-F or Ctrl-H don't work.

Old review:
This extension would be great… if it didn't break 𝘴𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘴. The worst being 3-D Secure payment redirections.
I end up leaving it disabled most of the time.
Maybe the first feature that this extension would have required is an easily manageable custom whitelist. I'll have to look into the contribution requirements one of those days…
