You should give this add-on a try if you are using Firefox 57+ (a.k.a Firefox Quantum).
I felt so inconvenient after clicked a download link with almost invisible hint, and this add-on saves me! Many thanks.

    (It works on Firefox 62)
    It can't be configured.
    The notification stays visible for too much (in my opinion)
