I built this extension back when Gemini didn’t yet have a search feature. All I wanted was a simple way to revisit past chats so I wouldn’t have to start a new one if it already existed. Especially for Deep Research, which can take up to 30 minutes to complete. When the search feature finally rolled out on May 19, 2025, the extension had already evolved into something much more than a basic chat history archive. I’m publishing it here in case it proves useful to others as well.

Limitations:

Currently, Gemini History Manager focuses on capturing the initial prompt and associated metadata for each new chat. It does not capture the full back-and-forth conversation, such as Gemini's responses or your follow-up prompts. This feature may be considered in future updates.
