Memex 的隐私政策
Memex 作者: WorldBrain.io
# Summary
**We highly value your data ownership & privacy.** We don't just say so. In fact Memex was built around giving you maximum data ownership and sovereignty. All personal data stays on your computer if you don't choose to share it with someone, sync it between devices or back it up to a provider of your choice. The only data that is captured is non-identifiable interaction data and error logs, never any of your search terms, tags or urls.
**Your data is not our business model.** We want to provide services valuable enough so they are worth paying for and will use decentralised technologies (not blockchain) to provide free features without the need to trade-off your data ownership & privacy.
**We don't take venture capital funding** to never get into the trap of trading off your privacy & freedom to move for growth. Instead we choose the harder route of funding our company through users, own revenue and an alternative investment model called "Steward Ownership". You can read more about our approach in [our manifesto](http://worldbrain.io/manifesto).
# Collected Data
All personal data always stays safely stored on your computer. It will never leave your computer unless you proactively share it with someone, sync it between devices or back it up to a cloud provider of your choice.
If you chose to sync your data between devices, this data is end2end encrypted with keys that only the sender and receiver device know. The connection is SSL encrypted.
Once you sign up to one of Memex premium offerings we will receive at least your email address and your payment details in case you upgrade to a premium offering. This data is solely used to provide you the services you signed up for, never sold to 3rd parties. Your email address is shared with our cloud provider Firebase.com and our payment provider Chargebee.com to manage your account and subscription status. Chargebee.com also manages your payment details. Your data sent to those services is subject to their privacy policy.
Worldbrain.io may receive anonymous error logs (we use Sentry.io) & metrics on how you use the software (e.g. which buttons you click/features you use) so we can improve the user experience and feature maturity. This data does not contain any personally identifiable information or personal data like the terms you search, websites you visit or annotations you make. For the anonymous usage statistics we use Google Analytics. If you feel uncomfortable with this, you can opt-out and become a ghost for us. To opt-out to your Memex' settings > privacy.
