Firefox extension 2026.7.0 stuck loading with Vaultwarden

After updating the Bitwarden Firefox extension to version 2026.7.0, the vault remains stuck on the loading placeholders and no items are displayed.

Going back to 2026.6.1 fixes it.

To those come here for a broken update: I updated vaultwarden to 1.37.0 and resynced it's working now.

Go back to 2026.6.1 to get it working with self-hosted again. They broke it for firefox in 2026.7.0. The previous versions are here on the mozilla addons page under Version History > "See all versions" for Bitwarden. I'm not allowed to paste the url.

2026.07 is broken, cannot show entries when connected to 3rd party server

It does not work since the update from the 25.7.26, I need to switch to a different browser.

The extension not working on the newest version is not a problem with bitwarden itself but with the selfhosted vault.

So nothing to complain, great extension and so grateful that selfhosted is supported.

2026.7.0 не работает со старым Vaultwarden. Обновил Vaultwarden до актуальной версии, работает.

You broke it. Newest version get stuck loading the vault and is blank. Can't use it now. Self-hosted. Desktop app and web interface work fine, so I know it's this plugin.

New version is broken.

Since the latest update 2026.7.0, it no longer loads my vault...

UPDATE YOUR VAULTWARDEN-SERVER TO THE LATEST VERSION AND IT WORKS AGAIN!!

The good:
- does what it says
- cross-platform sync works well most of the time
- free tier more than enough for most use cases
- open source + self-hosting options

The bad:
- the UX is bad and inconsistent, and hasn't improved for years. you get sort of used to it
- serious performance issues with some "dynamic" pages (home assistant in my case)
- was recently bought out by a private equity firm

Works most of the times. But then once in a while it just doesnt save / sync or whatever. Signing in from new PC and some passwords have suddenly vanished. They are on mobile. Updating password on mobile still doesnt update on PC. Relogging doesnt work...
Logging out, reinstalling and logging in, fixed it temporarily. In the middle of a session, the plugin removed itself.

The idea behind bitwarden is good, but their understanding of user experience is horrible. They don't listen to community and they spend time and money to worsen their product. It's fcked beond repair.

I recently noticed that whenever I do video playback the corresponding tab will spike to 60% CPU usage (in a single CPU thread) and doing profiler in Firefox's process manager clearly shows that Bitwarden (requestIdleCallback handler) causes this.
Disable the extension and refresh video website solves the issue for me.

5 stars cos bitwarden is amazing but I have to say, since recent update the firefox extension doesn't work for me on macos any more :(
