von samurai80, vor 8 JahrenThank you very much for this porting of Rikaichan. Is there any chance you port Rikaichamp for THUNDERBIRD too ? That would be great to say the least, and I'll probably make a donation if you do so.
I've been working in Japan in a Japanese company for a long time and Rikaichan for Mozilla Thunderbird helped me A LOT. I recently updated Thunderbird just to realize that Rikaichan wasn't supported anymore. Please HELP !
PS: I tried getting the xpi file after adding the extension to Firefox and then import it into Thunderbird. While the extension is properly listed and shown as compatible in Thunderbird, it actually doesn't seem to work :/
EDIT: Thank you for the answer and happy new year :) I hope you or someone else can do something about it. Unfortunately I'm not into software dev :( If it takes less than 6 months it would be awesome !

geschrieben am vor 8 JahrenThanks. I started digging into this a little bit today. Unfortunately it does seem like it will take time. I posted some notes that might be useful to others who want to help out: https://github.com/birtles/rikaichamp/issues/46

For example 血blood 管 tube 血管 blood vessel veins, like that a little list maybe 5-10 examples of the most common kanjis using that compound. Aditionally i talked about playing website visual novels but it goes beyond, u can also use it to read light novels online and simply hover over any word u dont know. then u ask me: what about steam visual novels or such (thats what i use most for learning btw, if u wanna leave intermediary level higurashi series is my reccomendation for u). well i recently discovered that if u press windows+shift+t u can copy any text on screen fairly easily, then u can search it or just paste the sentence anywhere on google and hover over the things u interested in using the extension. also if u dont wanna change windows everytime u do it u can minimize the google/firefox window and press control+windows+t to fix the window, and even if u click on the game outside of the browser the browser`s window will be fixed there and wont dissapear. the shortcuts may be different on ur computer but they do exist so u just got find out which one is the one for ur computer, last but not least for using the commands u will probably have to install powertoys and set it up. there are lots of youtube tutorials explaning how to do so. anyway after one year having to take my phone out every 5 minutes opening translator, copying, pasting, searching for every word i was being driven crazy, the most amazing thing is that this extension is free, i would totally pay for it if it was paid but it is free wow. i wish i could optionally buy a coffee to creator tho i searched for it but i didnt find it. anyway thank u so much man/ma`am. i reccomend this extension to everyone learning japanese thats for sure.

It would be really helpful for people who are starting with japanese. Quite often I have to copy the expression into google translate to see the romaji.

I'm afraid I couldn't quite follow your suggestions, however. If you enable romaji display in the settings and look at a work like テスト you should see "tesuto" in the popup and also when you copy the entry.
(Note that the extension will not work on addons.mozilla.org because Firefox blocks extensions from working there.)
Could you please email me at info@birchill.co.jp to let me know what is missing. Thank you! - Bewertet mit 5 von 5 Sternenvon sdia, vor 7 Monaten

Once you look up the word, you can find the kanji decomposition. It's detailed and easy at the same time. Please try.Antwort des Entwicklers
