This addon has recently been "sponsored" by a company called Lesno.ai and pushed advertisements directly into every single use of the addon, by default.

This is no longer anything but a thinly veiled data and image harvesting tool by Lesno.ai and frankly should not be used by anyone.

Using this addon now directly sends all search data to Lesno.ai, be warned.

You can verify my claim by simply visiting the github in the extension description and reading the changelog: 8.1.0 (2025-01-07)

Open source projects can be sponsored, and it's perfectly fine to list sponsors at the bottom of the settings page. I'm not sure what kind of advertisements and data harvesting tool are you seeing, but anyone can indeed verify that you're making stuff up by going to GitHub.

This is the commit that lists the logo of sponsors on the options page of the extension:

It's a local image, with a link to the website of a sponsor.

    An excellent add-on, amazing! Lately, for some reason, it seems it doesn't work when you open images in firefox from a computer directory, any ideas? Thank you. EDIT: Fixed with the answer, thanks!

    It's a new security feature in Firefox 153, you now need to give file URL access to the extension to continue searching with local images opened in a tab.

    Please go to about:addons, click on Search by Image to open the extension's details and visit the "Permissions and data" tab to find the optional permission. The relevant permission is "Access local files on your computer", which is poorly named in my opinion, and will surely confuse and alarm users.

    The same permission is named "Allow access to file URLs" in Chrome, which is much less vague and alarming.

    Great extension for anyone who frequently needs to check image uniqueness or find original sources. A huge plus for being able to customize the list of search engines (Google, Yandex, TinEye, etc.) and search either via a single engine or all of them at once. Works flawlessly.

    Very BAD. — Tried to use 1 image with "all search engines". — It opens all kind of tabs, I thought it would be centralized. — And some sites being Asians, they're searching for Asian things that are absoutely OUT OF SUBJECT to my research… — Also uses Firefox notifications for everything, whereas they take time to disappear (not intuitive at all).
