I keep my 8W stereo HDMI-attached speakers (built into an Asus 28" 4K monitor) at 100% and my Windows 10 Volume slider at 50% normally. I thought this would help level the sound on Youtube, if not anything else.

I've had this extension installed for almost two years and forgot about it because it didn't change anything. In that time I still constantly encounter videos where I can't turn the volume up enough to hear, and more often videos that come obnoxiously loud at only 1/4th the volume on the Windows taskbar Volume slider.

Obviously I must be doing something wrong, such as perhaps misinterpreting the purpose of this extension.

this addon only works for one video at a time so it needs to be reset for every episode of a quiet ass show on netflix, tedious and therefore useless

Audio Equalizer is the name of the addon you're looking for. It's like this one but it actually works outside of youtube. The interface is worse but at least it works at all.

all my videos need a -0.75 pan. but EVERY video I open, i have to set that manually?

It does nothing

Not only does it do nothing, but even touching a slider will cause complete audio loss. The only way to restore audio is to disable the extension and refresh the page.

This add-on only reduced the sound or returned to sound that is too soft for me to hear comfortably.

I have to give this one star because I have no idea how to use it and there are no instructions here. I'm more than competent with computers and I use Youtube very regularly, but after installing this and restarting Firefox, there's absolutely nothing new on Youtube video pages to interact with to use this addon.

i have the youtube+firefox bug combo where the sound volume always is maxed out no matter what. This addon claims to work on youtube. It doesn't work, on youtube or anywhere else. Absolutely pointless, and it requires the permission to check on your browsing activity.
How it managed to get a 5 stars rating is beyond me.
