I read through other reviews and stumbled across EnbyTea's review. This is exactly what my frustration is:

The developer's response is also useless:
> The default auto-connect option will connect you to the fastest available server for you. This leads to better load balancing and higher speed, which is a priority for free users. That said, you still have the option to switch to another randomly allocated server by disconnecting and reconnecting again, or you can upgrade to connect to a specific server of your choice (["URLs are not allowed." says mozilla]).
If you are providing free version, do it right. This does not make any sense to just randomly connect to some random freaking server. You either make a really good free version or none at all. Everything in between will ALWAYS result in extremely terrible user experience. This is why, I will never be upgrading.
