wót Wužywaŕ Firefox 13688369, 8 jierren lynI installed this add-on to replace the Quicksaver add-on so I have to compare this with the Quicksaver add-on.
What I liked is the coloring and the UIs.
But I have some serious issues with this add-on:
The way how it works: Every tab is saved as an URL like "moz-extension://...url=...". When you switch tabs, the tabs of the current group are closed and tabs of the new group are opened. If you click on the tab it takes an additional time to load the tab.
This process costs a lot of time if you have many tabs.
It took me about 10-20 minutes to switch a tab group - to be fair, that one specific tab group had about 2500 tabs which is a lot.
The second big issue is that you lose all your tabs if you uninstall the add-on:
Actually I still have my tabs, but they are stored with the URL "moz-extension://...." and therefore my opened tabs are practically unsuable, but also the history is. Now I have to write my own plugin to remove that prefix from the URL and hopefully I can work again.
Normally I would rate it one star because it was practically unusable for me but to be fair having 2500 open tabs I am not a normal user and I guess there are technical limitations that prevent the tabs to be "hidden" and you have to do it that way with the URL prefixes.

If you are "not a normal user", you could go into the settings and remove the checkbox "Enable fast group switching" - and this will disable the functionality that you did not like so much, namely: the URL like "moz-extension://...url=...". You have 2500 tabs - I understand what you have a problem.
About the fact that when you delete the extension there are tabs with the prefix moz-extension - this bug I'll postfix, thank you for finding it.
Thanks for your feedback

Settings > Backup Your Simple Tab Groups > Enable Auto-backup (you should be doing this anyway). Then Restore Backup every time you relaunch Firefox. (I delete existing data and revert to my last save.)
That's how I'm managing until the maintainer updates this extension. (Based on their location in Ukraine, I'm willing to give them some slack.) - Z 4 z 5 pógódnośonywót CarlosTorch, 12 dagen lyn

- Z 1 z 5 pógódnośonywót Wužywaŕ Firefox 14179354, 24 dagen lynkeeps crashing when trying to restore backup. tab groups load but not the pages in them.
- Z 3 z 5 pógódnośonywót Wužywaŕ Firefox 16987590, ien moanne lynIt's okay. But your max is going to be 4 groups before tabs/browser starts to feel laggy on MacOS.

- Z 1 z 5 pógódnośonywót Wužywaŕ Firefox 19799423, ien moanne lynUnfortunately, the add-on no longer works with the current version of Firefox.
- Z 1 z 5 pógódnośonywót Wužywaŕ Firefox 14589876, ien moanne lynК сожалению, дополнение неисправно. При попытке восстановить группы из резервной копии, браузер просто падает и восстанавливаются пустые группы.

It's likely a fact that these tab group extensions predate the firefox addition, but that isn't the point. They are essentially obsolete now and none of them that I've seen seem to add anything unique that firefox doesn't, and the built in seamlessness just works better anyway. These extensions (not limited to tab groups ext.) are populating the store, negatively impacting navigation experience and ext. search relevancy. A mild inconvenience to complain about, but a mild inconvenience to fix it too, so just do it. These extensions seem to be prevelant, and are even taking up the bulk of my mozilla "recommendations".
- Z 1 z 5 pógódnośonywót FireFox-User-1, 2 moannen lynNope, great Idea but every some updates it kills everything and is not relaible. Now lost 200 tabs ....

- Z 1 z 5 pógódnośonywót Wužywaŕ Firefox 14520466, 3 moannen lynAll open tabs that were not in a group suddenly disappeared, as I was managing groups. They only reappeared again when the extension was uninstalled. That's a terrible user experience. Avoid.
- Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót andres, 3 moannen lynThis is a super helpful extension!
There is one thing that could be improved. It would be great if the native Firefox groups remained related to the tab group. When I switch groups using Simple Tab Groups, the Firefox groups disappear along with the tabs. It's like having tabs and groups within groups. - Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Hugo, 3 moannen lynExactly what I have been looking for. I love that you can have multiple groups that share the same container. I use it to separate school subjects, but I want every school subject to be in the school container. I also like the automatic tab unloading feature that saves ram.
- Z 3 z 5 pógódnośonywót PhilZSquid, 3 moannen lynOne of the most confusing interfaces, and most unpredictable interactions of any add-on I've used to date.
I created 4 tab groups -- social media & news; payments & banking; messaging; shopping cart. I populated each with several url's that I go to frequently. I created each group in a separate window and then selected the set of tabs and created the group. So far so good.
The next day I come back, I'm on tab in my shopping cart group which I had open and then select the group social media, which I had closed the evening before. It opens in the shopping cart group. Worse, it empties out my social media group, which is now for some reason associated with the shopping cart. So I have to recreate the group on new window and remove them from the shopping cart. Why? I have no idea.
Worse, if I try to move the tabs from my shopping cart by putting them in my original social media group, it tells me the shopping cart group is closed. Why? I have no idea.
This add-on seems so simple, yet, none of the features makes sense in its implementation. This could be a great add-on if it had any consistency. I'm still using it, but every day I have to reset one or more of my tab groups, scratching my head each time.
Consistency. This is not... - Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Monimonika, 3 moannen lynHave been using this addon for years. I currently have 1480 tabs across 28 groups (yes, I need to clean that up), but somehow this addon has not yet failed me. I do make occasional backups just in case. Great if going through sites with chapters/episodes that if saved via bookmark would become outdated. The management interface is easy to use, too.
- Z 5 z 5 pógódnośonywót Kintak, 3 moannen lynI love this addon and have been using it for years. It's very useful for a kleptomaniac power user like me who keeps hundreds of tabs and needs a way to sort them. STG has its own backup function as well, which has saved me a few times when Firefox bugs and fails to retain its state. I also get the impression STG helps avoid Firefox getting overwhelmed and degrading performance.
My only issue is that it currently has no compatibility with the new native Firefox tab group function, which prevents STG backups from saving Firefox groups. Hoping that comes in a future update!
