- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 15468885, 2 months agoI cannot figure out how to trigger the generator. Where is that "one click"?? No instructions on the download page, just a lot of verbiage about how great it is. No right click, after internet search says there's supposed to be an icon in the upper right (there isn't), finally found an internet suggestion to use Ctrl. Shift F10, but that just shows the QR code without a ready way to copy or download it. Github site is way over my head, I need some instructions.

posted 2 months agoHi and thanks a lot for your rating. I'm sorry that the extension is not working as expected for you. As far as I understand, you cannot see the extension icon and you want to download the QR code.
So as for the first issue, you are right, your browser should have a colorful icon. See the video here for an example on how to use it: https://github.com/rugk/offline-qr-code/blob/master/assets/screencasts/qrText.gif
If you cannot see it, it may be shown in the extension menu, where you can also pin it to the toolbar menu. See https://support.mozilla.org/kb/extensions-button for more explanation.
Apart from that, you are correct Ctrl+Shift+F10 is the default (though configurable) hotkey, as described in the add-on description and Readme on GitHub.
Note you can also open the QR code via various other ways as a context-menu e.g. when right-clicking on links.
As for the second issue, here is how you can save the image as SVG or PNG: https://github.com/rugk/offline-qr-code/wiki/FAQ#how-to-save-the-qr-code-on-disk
The thing is Firefox recently changed how such a menu icon would be shown by an extension and introduced the extension menu/button. There is no way for the extension to change this, you need to manually adjust, which extensions you want to show there. Note this applies to all extensions, however.
It would be glad if you could upgrade your voting to 5 stars if that solves your problem.
If you have further issues or questions, please feel free to get in touch by opening an issue on https://github.com/rugk/offline-qr-code/issues. Thanks.
Best regards,

posted 4 months agoHi, and thanks a lot for your rating. I'm sorry that the extension does not satisfy your expectations. If I understand you correctly, you do not like the way the extension showed a prompt asking you for a review on addons.mozilla.org.
That said, I can reassure you the likelihood to see such a prompt is very low and e.g. only shown after you have used the extension for some time and e.g. not shown again if you have dismissed it explicitly twice.
As this add-on is open-source, you can also check it's source code at https://github.com/rugk/offline-qr-code/blob/master/src/common/modules/data/Tips.js, if you are interested in the technical details or want to verify my claims here.
Also notice there are other helpful tips that may occasionally been shown, but they are really kept to a minimum and many users do e.g. not know that they can help the add-on and support it by writing a review.
I am afraid this has disturbed you and want to apologise.
If you have further issues or questions, feel free to ask or suggest a feature by opening an issue on https://github.com/rugk/offline-qr-code/issues/. Thanks.
If this helped, it would be glad if you could adjust your voting.
Best regards,
rugk
