by BZ, a year agoMostly works well on Windows 11, until your computer goes to sleep. After you wake it up, Firefox has no Internet connectivity until you close and reopen Firefox, or disable the Proton VPN extension.
Developer response:
"Sorry to hear that. Could you share more details about the issue? What version of Firefox do you currently have installed? Are you receiving any error messages after waking the device from sleep? Are you using any other extensions for privacy/security purposes? Contact us at [support form URL] with more details so we can investigate the behavior further."
My response to developer:
I filed a support request with details last week and haven't heard anything. I'm disappointed to see a response to my review here before getting a response from support. But since I'm getting a response here:
Windows 11 23H2 build 22631.4460
Firefox 132.0.2
Proton VPN 1.2.3
No error messages (unless I open up the Browser Console)
Other extensions in use include uBlock Origin and DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials.
The problem immediately goes away when I disable Proton VPN after waking from sleep. I can quickly toggle the extension off and back on and Proton reconnects and everything works from that point.

- Rated 2 out of 5by sparcplug, 21 hours agoInstalls easy and looks simple enough. It connects but doesn't work at all in that all I get is "Unable to find the proxy server". I have allowed the permission for ProtonVPN to manage the setting so I don't know how it can be wrong. If I take away the permission it doesn't allow it to connect. Literally a fresh firefox install of the latest version. Connects to internet fine with no proxy or other funny business when turned off. Basically it looks like the thing connects and then breaks the Proxy settings to not use the tunnel.

But currently i find a problem where if you close the browser with the vpn on after you reopen the browser it will try to connect to vpn immediately but will instead basically remove internet connection to the entire browser, making the extension itself inaccessible as well, only solution is to disable the extension and re-enableDeveloper response

- Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 16255090, 6 days agoWould be great if it had a "default connection" option and a "Recents" list like on the iOS app. Selecting the preferred country each and every time is a bit of a pain point when it's half-way down the list of countries.
Also, can you make split tunneling work the opposite way? i.e. I only want some websites to go throught the VPN.Developer response

- Rated 1 out of 5by WrolTroklr, 8 days agoWorks well, when it does. After using the extension for little over a few weeks, it randomly stopped actually changing my location/IP even though it says "Connected". Huge security risk, If this does happen to you, I would try disallowing and reallowing the browser to control your browser traffic, but this is a massive and unnecessary inconvenience.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19538649, 11 days agoI have Proton’s most advanced plan, including their full suite of services and the VPN. I’ve been using it for over a month and it works well. It does exactly what I expect from it.
Advice for those using Proton VPN on PC:
A small trick if you can protect more than one device with Proton. Exclude the browser from the software and let the extension handle the VPN. Your usage will be more flexible that way. - Rated 3 out of 5by SnigePippi, 12 days agoWorked mostly fine the last 3 weeks. Now I've had to disable it as it is blocking my connection. Hope it will be solved, but it's turned off for now.

posted 12 days agoThat doesn't sound right. Would you mind describing the issue further? Are you experiencing no internet access while connected to the extension? If so, are you receiving any error messages perhaps? We'd be more than happy to help you troubleshoot, but we need some basic details to work with. - Rated 1 out of 5by fulluphigh, 14 days agoHonestly the worst extension I've ever used. Idk, maybe all vpn extensions are garbage, but holy hell this is garbage. Are they even trying? Will constantly crash in such a way that you have to completely disable it to use your browser in any way shape or form, and completely uninstall it and then reinstall it to get it to work again. Sometimes even after disabling and re-enabling it, it'll still stop working a minute later.
And don't misunderstand me. By constantly, I mean literally every time you use it after your computer has slept. Honestly, at this point I'm giving up, uninstalling it, and reporting it to mozilla, for breaking the browser.
And don't give me the "That doesn't sound right, can you share more details" bull, there are literally a hundred reviews saying the exact same thing. Try using your own product and figuring it out on your own.Developer response

Aby rozwiązać ten problem należy wyłączyć rozszerzenie i następnie ponownie je włączyć. To bardzo upierdliwe.

- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 14322377, 18 days agoWorks as you'd expect, and the UI is very responsive, albeit bare-bones feature wise. An option to pin or favorite specific countries to have them show up at the top of the list, or profiles, would be nice (but that's what the standalone app is for I suppose).
