kirjoittanut Dan Theman, yhdeksän vuotta sittenI'm looking at an item on Amazon with Keepa installed right now. Keepa's chart says the lowest "new" price at this moment is $140, but Amazon says it is $144.99. I'd love to know where Keepa is finding it for $140 because it sure isn't available to me!

lähetetty yhdeksän vuotta sittenHi Dan,
On a product listing on Amazon multiple merchants can offer the product for different prices. Amazon then chooses the “best” offer among those to display on the product page, in the so called Buy Box.
Keepa does not track the buy box, it tracks the cheapest price of all available offers, shipping costs not included, per condition.
The "new" price type is the lowest New price by a 3rd party seller or Amazon, shipping not included.
When on the product page there is a box on the right showing “Other Sellers on Amazon”, which also contains a link to see all offers. There you should find the offer for $140, shipping not included.
If you want to see a price history with shipping costs included you can enable the price types with a small shipping truck icon next to them. To enable additional price types just click on them in the legend next to the graph. Note though, that we do not track all price types for all products.
If you have any more questions, do not hesitate to contact us at info@keepa.com or visit our forums: https://discuss.keepa.com
We would much appreciate if you could reconsider your review.

- Arvioitu 2/5kirjoittanut Firefox-käyttäjä 18292245, seitsemän tuntia sittenwhy you keep asking for new permission to view activity and auth info. why it was working just fine before?
Kehittäjän vastaus
lähetetty seitsemän tuntia sittenSorry - twice is twice too many.
The first prompt was Firefox's new data disclosure, mandatory for every add-on since Firefox 140. Nothing about Keepa changed, only the labels.
The second was us removing one of them: "personally identifying information", which was only ever your Keepa account token - now labelled "authentication information". Firefox re-prompts whenever a label is added, even when the list gets shorter.
It works exactly as it did before. What's left is browsing activity, because a price chart requires knowing which product you're on, and the account token. Nothing is logged unless you track something.
No further prompts expected. - Arvioitu 1/5kirjoittanut Firefox-käyttäjä 20105560, yhdeksän tuntia sittenWhat do you mean you need my authentication information ? I really hope this is a mistake and will get reversed.
Kehittäjän vastaus
lähetetty seitsemän tuntia sittenThe "authentication information" is your Keepa account login authentication to store your settings and enable price tracking. Nothing else.
Keepa does not track your browsing history or collect personal data. The extension only runs on Amazon product pages to load price charts, and nothing is logged or stored unless you choose to track an item. - Arvioitu 5/5kirjoittanut Rifat, 21 tuntia sitten

The "personally identifying information" warning in Firefox is just Mozilla's rigid label for your account login token (not your name or email), and we've asked them to update it. - Arvioitu 1/5kirjoittanut Firefox-käyttäjä 19139831, kolme päivää sittenThe item tracking and alerts were changed to subscription, not great but I understand, at least it was still working directly on the Amazon website. Then got an alert from Firefox about the extension asking for concerning new permissions.
I guess is time to say goodbye and find new alternatives.Kehittäjän vastaus

Mozilla now requires every add-on to declare data categories from a fixed list, and Firefox displays them on update.
What Keepa does: on an Amazon product page it sends that product's ASIN to keepa.com to draw the price chart. It is not logged and not retained. Nothing is stored unless you choose to track a product. The "personally identifying information" line refers to your Keepa session token - a login credential for your own account, not your name or email. We think that's the wrong label and have asked Mozilla to change it to "authentication information".

Whether this is abnormal in relation to Mozilla or Amazon guidelines, and GDPR, and the requirements for the developers, I cannot properly evaluate, but I'm still concerned about.
I would encourage the developers and users to eg read Wladimir Palant's blog post titled "Data exfiltration in Keepa Price Tracker".Kehittäjän vastaus
lähetetty kolme päivää sittenThank you for sharing your feedback. We would like to clarify a few points regarding the blog post and explain the updates we have made to the add-on.
The post by Wladimir Palant contained several sensationalized claims and key factual inaccuracies regarding how our add-on handles data. While we appreciate community oversight, many of the assertions made did not accurately reflect our module’s design or intent.
To eliminate any ambiguity and address user concerns directly, our latest update completely removes all background data collection capabilities. The add-on now functions as a minimalist wrapper designed solely to embed the price history chart, ensuring maximum privacy and transparency while maintaining core functionality.

Do not blame Keepa for things required by Mozilla.
This kind of "issue" also happens On Google Play.

WTF is this? Aww hell nah, UNINSTALLED. NO USER TRACKING!!!!Kehittäjän vastaus
