completely exploded my browser with genuinely an infinite number of duplicated tabs which would all reopen on launch, had to boot firefox in safe mode to disable!

Used to work flawlessly, but more recently I've been running into issues (at least on Linux) where the plugin is stuck with a loading indicator and I can't access any of my tab groups.
ALSO, it randomly loses tabs in my active tab group on [re]load or something; I end up having to restore from backups.

So far my experience with simple tab groups is excellent, it does what it promises and doe it well.
If I may suggest, could you add a shuffle tabs option? it would be useful to those of us that hoard tabs like a dragon but forget about them.

First... I love this Add-On! I know right now its being flaky and buggy and the author isn't responding to fixing things. This most likely because he is being affected by the WAR in Ukraine, where he lives. Hoping for his safe return to programming tools like this.

FYI, There is newer code on Git that was submitted just over a month ago. I'm trying to figiure out how to install that and test it.

Keeps hiding random tabs from random groups every day. Then you have to manually find the hidden tabs in the firefox hidden tabs menu and reopen them only for it to randomly close a bunch again

Worked well until recently. Now every time you open FF after closing it, some of the tab groups are in different windows, some might be empty, and the backups just aren't there. This extension has totally lost its purpose as being able to save what you're doing through restarts.

Restore backup no longer works with firefox May 13 2026 update! Looks like an abandoned extension. Been over a year since last updated. What a shame. It was the best of its kind!

It's really a good option for the lack of a better one... It gets the job done by hiding tabs from other "workspaces" into the hidden tabs list. Didn't notice a lot of bugs.
But a few things that really push me to use other browsers: it's not as elegant, very simple design, doesn't feel native and natural (compared to vivaldi, arc, zen, opera, etc); and two very annoying things: tab groups don't hidden, but are kinda empty, but still show previews, which brakes immersion and the fact that it spawns a directory every single day in your home folder ("STG-..."), and never cleans it up.

My favorite browser extension, hands down. Yes, the last Firefox update broke it. Need your tabs back? Settings > Backup Your Simple Tab Groups > Enable Auto-backup (you should be doing this anyway). Then Restore Backup every time you relaunch Firefox. (I delete existing data and revert to my last save.)

That's how I'm managing until the maintainer updates this extension. (Based on their location in Ukraine, I'm willing to give them some slack.)

keeps crashing when trying to restore backup. tab groups load but not the pages in them.

It's okay. But your max is going to be 4 groups before tabs/browser starts to feel laggy on MacOS.
