I wish I had noticed the warning about Mozilla not actively screening it for security, I never would have installed it. Now I have uninstalled it, but am worried about what it might have left behind or if my PC now has some kind of spyware etc. :( I should have read the description page more carefully, so it's my own fault, but I trusted Mozilla to NOT allow anything like this to be added to their platform! :(

I am very sorry for the inconveniences.
Sadly, starting a few years back, Mozilla disabled direct access to WIndows API, making it impossible to directly put a windows on top. Instead, they provided this mechanism of external apps that extension devs could use.
But, you don't have to download already built app, you can download its source code and build it instead. In this way you will be able to control what the code does yourself.

Couldn't get it on top unless is was made a separate window>shrunk desired stay on page and on top page>dragged them to attached to sides>then open the desired stay on page to full screen>then click on top page and shrink sides down but must maintain its attachment to the side - so is this really STAY ON TOP? Never works. We want to keep a STAY ON TOP tab on top of WHICH-EVER WINDOW OR TAB WE NAVIGATE TO. That's what the name STAY on top INSINUATES. (btw I'm not yelling I'm using caps for clarity of word importance. I don't know why ppl think it means yelling - it would only if it were angry words - duh. ha Is this just a few ppl saying this that is making it hard for the rest of us? really...so prevalent)
Why not make this FEATURE a FIREFOX FEATURE? It's a MAJOR DESIRE/NEED. I don't get how sizing pages and sticking them to the sides is supposed to accomplish this when they don't stay open whenever switching between them anyway. Thanks for hearing me out. This extension will not run without first downloading a linked app. Malwarebytes identifies the app as a machine-learning type of malware.开发者回应

sorry, I've tried to contact a couple of antimalware apps about false positive identifications, but it just takes too much time.
Anyway, the additional app's code is open - you can even build it by yourself and it will work with Always on Top extension

- 评分 1 / 5来自 Ash，4 年前I've uninstalled and reinstalled both the add-on and aot.exe too many times to count and yet it still doesn't work. I've read reviews with similar problems with the only proposed solution being to check if it installed properly, but how could it install improperly in the first place? As of now I'm deleting the add-on itself and its external program until a solution presents itself to me.

I'm really sorry you had to uninstall Always On Top extension - the extension front page clearly states that you have to install additional software to make it work. Please believe - we didn't want it either, but there was no choice - extensions API doesn't support required operation anymore.
Feel free to contact our team directly so we can discuss how to make it more trustworthy for you. You can also build the additional app from the source code by yourself.

- 评分 1 / 5来自 Firefox 用户 15276562，5 年前Don't use this one cause it asks you to download another application and install it into your OS. Only then will it work. The whole purpose of the add-ons is to stay inside the browser. I don't trust any add-on that needs outside support. You don't know what that other app is doing. Don't waste your time with this one and pass it up.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, this extension is very old and in the past it didn't require any additional apps. But those times are gone and now it isn't possible to do it from inside.
Anyway, the app code is completely open, you can build your own outside app and use it with my extension

Requires external program to work, fine. What's less fine is that although it claims it's open source, the source is nowhere to be found on Github. The zip-file he's labeled as "source" in releases only has a config file and the HTML used to explain that "it's totes not a virus and 300kb is too small to fit one in" (you could. Another red flag).
I wouldn't mind closed source, but when it claims to be transparent, and it's not, that raises red flags. The exe is also not signed by MS and flags up as adware in some antivirus software (may be false positives). Point is I don't trust it, and I don't think you should either. Releasing the actual source would probably fix this concern.开发者回应
