i tried using this from my android device and opening youtube in a default tab... and it did not perform the advertised work of switching to a desktop site.

On ebay not working at all.
Edit regarding developers answer:
Desktop website was working before. I didn't want to tick it, that's why I've installed this add-on.
Not gonna try this one again.
Found one which works perfectly.

Could you try ticking the "Request desktop site" in the Firefox Android hamburger menu?
