But, recently I have encountered an issue where EVERY TIME I OPEN MY BROWSER I'm auto connected to India??? I live in California so you can understand why the auto connect feature would see India as the lowest ping for me. There are 4 other servers near me that I have used frequently but for some reason, the extension chose India. And worst of all, it also said my ping to ALL the US servers was 700+ which I don't think should ever happen. I never had this issue when using the desktop app, only since I started using the extension. And I only used the extension because having my VPN on while gaming was messing up my internet speeds. Overall, unless this is fixed, cannot recommend this extension.

It presumes to block sites and take control of Firefox's tracking settings, while doing a poor job of it.
It would be a much more useful addon if it would stick just to managing proxy servers and leave the other stuff it trie to do to other addons that are much better at it. The re-directoin and encoding of web site data works fine , unfortunately it has some annoying side effects , I was unable to log in to my local router and storage devices with this addon installed (even when it was toggled off) and the default size of firefox kept resetting to 50% of the available screen when I started it.
The Windows client is excellent. The add-on causes site settings to be lost between tabs and between sessions.
The service itself if good, but the Firefox extension has never worked properly (though Chrome & variants work fine). All setting are lost upon closing the browser, forcing the user to reconfigure/login with every browser session.
The privacy access for this add-on is atrocious. Check under Permissions, and you will see:
-- Access your data for all websites
-- Download files and read and modify the browser’s download history
-- Access browser tabs
How is this OK? I understand their need to protect against phishing, etc, but access to ALL data, that's borderline unethical and vast potential for data leakage, and corporate maleficence.
Some additional quirks, as noted by others. Sites such as nextdoor.com will not allow login, even when PIA is not connected. The extension needs to be disabled.
One cannot connect if zscaler is running on the OS. This add-on continues to disappear from my taskbar making it impossible to switch locations. It doesn't help either that the PC app doesn't open once you download it

Hello, we'd like to remedy this issue as quick as possible. Could you send us a copy of the debug log found in the extension, under "Extension Settings", then the "Extension" section, then click on "View Debug Log" and finally click on "Copy Debug Log."
Please email this information to support@privateinternetaccess.com with the Firefox Version and the Extension Version.
Thank you. My issue is that when using the web extension, email is stamped as four hours later than real time. Eg, when it is 6pm on the east coast of the US (my present location) gmail and yahoo mail are timestamped 10pm. My system setting is correct, my gmail timezone is correct, and I am connecting to servers in my time zone (New York, Toronto, Atlanta) yet the problem persists. This is not the case when I use the desktop client. I've stopped using the browser add-on as a result.

Hello, this is actually due to the "Disable Fingerprinting" setting in the extension which turns on a Firefox setting for increased tracking protection. This Firefox setting essentially sets any publicly available data (window size, user's timezone data, Firefox version, etc) to something very general. This keeps the user from being uniquely identified by Ad and Tracking companies because, the user essentially looks like a generic user rather than a unique user. Installing the extension turns on this Firefox setting by default but can be turned off by clicking on the "Extension Settings" icon, then "Tracking" and finally the "Disable Fingerprinting" checkbox. Then restart the Firefox browser and the timestamp should now be local rather than set to UTC time.
If this fixes your issue, please consider re-evaluating this review and setting a better rating.
