"Simple Tab Groups" has been an absolute game changer for my workflow. It is a very well thought-out extension that has allowed me to compartmentalize my work activities greatly. I normally have multiple windows open, separated by activity. In fact, I usually have upwards of 6 windows, with each averaging upwards of 20 tabs, for everything from different Jupyter Python projects to researching different topics to general web browsing. It was a nightmare keeping track of which was which, I lived in constant fear of losing papers or web resources I had found or of simply losing the structure I had in those windows, and the associated RAM usage would periodically slow my machines to a crawl. "Simple Tab Groups" has completely solved these issues.
ORGANIZATION: Simple Tab Groups allows you to name groups and, with the setting enabled, display their names in the window title. I can much more easily manage multiple windows by using these two features.
HISTORIES / ORGANIZATION: Tab groups are stored, with customizable backups created daily by default, so that I can quit Firefox or restart my machine and simply reopen the tab group with the tab structure I'd previously tailored. .
MEMORY: When RAM usage becomes an issue, I can simply close groups with the secure knowledge that I can easily reopen those groups when I need them again. There is also a specific option to save RAM when tabs are hidden, but I haven't found it necessary to use this option. Many of the groups I create are only needed once a week or less. I can now simply keep those windows closed until I come back around to that project, so that my RAM usage now generally stays low.
Finally, this extension also works well with Firefox's "Multi-Account Containers" extension. I have used both together for weeks with zero conflicts on either a Mac or Ubuntu 18. My only concern with this extension is that I am becoming highly reliant on it, and if Drive4ik ceases developing and supporting it, I would be hard-pressed to find a combination of trustworthy (i.e., Mozilla-recommended) tools that work as well as this one extension does. Thank you for your excellent work, Drive4ik! Would love to support you monetarily as well.

- Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur Billie Lynn, há 2 diasFirst... I love this Add-On! I know right now its being flaky and buggy and the author isn't responding to fixing things. This most likely because he is being affected by the WAR in Ukraine, where he lives. Hoping for his safe return to programming tools like this.
FYI, There is newer code on Git that was submitted just over a month ago. I'm trying to figiure out how to install that and test it. - Yettwasezmel 1 ɣef 5sɣur nucky, há 16 diasUsing this for years, have to stop now and find an alternative. Do not recommend at all
Keeps hiding random tabs from random groups every day. Then you have to manually find the hidden tabs in the firefox hidden tabs menu and reopen them only for it to randomly close a bunch again - Yettwasezmel 4 ɣef 5sɣur TT, há 2 mesesaddon "Hide Tabs" may help you unhide all tabs after firefox update problem

- Yettwasezmel 3 ɣef 5sɣur Aseqdac Firefox 19937432, há 2 mesesWorked well until recently. Now every time you open FF after closing it, some of the tab groups are in different windows, some might be empty, and the backups just aren't there. This extension has totally lost its purpose as being able to save what you're doing through restarts.
- Yettwasezmel 4 ɣef 5sɣur EnergyMover, há 2 mesesRestore backup no longer works with firefox May 13 2026 update! Looks like an abandoned extension. Been over a year since last updated. What a shame. It was the best of its kind!

- Yettwasezmel 4 ɣef 5sɣur antonavy, há 3 mesesIt's really a good option for the lack of a better one... It gets the job done by hiding tabs from other "workspaces" into the hidden tabs list. Didn't notice a lot of bugs.
But a few things that really push me to use other browsers: it's not as elegant, very simple design, doesn't feel native and natural (compared to vivaldi, arc, zen, opera, etc); and two very annoying things: tab groups don't hidden, but are kinda empty, but still show previews, which brakes immersion and the fact that it spawns a directory every single day in your home folder ("STG-..."), and never cleans it up. - Yettwasezmel 5 ɣef 5sɣur Ron Elicit, há 3 mesesMy favorite browser extension, hands down. Yes, the last Firefox update broke it. Need your tabs back? Settings > Backup Your Simple Tab Groups > Enable Auto-backup (you should be doing this anyway). Then Restore Backup every time you relaunch Firefox. (I delete existing data and revert to my last save.)
That's how I'm managing until the maintainer updates this extension. (Based on their location in Ukraine, I'm willing to give them some slack.) - Yettwasezmel 4 ɣef 5sɣur CarlosTorch, há 3 meses
- Yettwasezmel 1 ɣef 5sɣur rbx4, há 4 mesesI don't know why anyone would use this. Does not reliably save tab groups.
- Yettwasezmel 1 ɣef 5sɣur Aseqdac Firefox 14179354, há 4 meseskeeps crashing when trying to restore backup. tab groups load but not the pages in them.
- Yettwasezmel 3 ɣef 5sɣur Aseqdac Firefox 16987590, há 4 mesesIt's okay. But your max is going to be 4 groups before tabs/browser starts to feel laggy on MacOS.
